Fellow fussy eater here 🤦🏽‍♀️ i really like this approach. As people can be so judgemental about fussy eaters - I can’t help it if I don’t like the taste 😂 great tips always good to broaden my food!

Wow I don’t think I’ve seen anyone talk about picky eaters in this way. I thought I was alone. I totally understand what you said at the beginning about your brain just refusing to let you eat it. Thanks for this video!

I’m a really picky eater, that’s why I’m 17 and weigh in at freaking 118. (Also short so not too bad) but, a few months ago I opened up to 2 foods. I started eating McDonald’s hamburgers, just plain with lettuce and some onion. And last week at my church for youth group I went for it and ate some Marcos pizza. Wasn’t too bad.

Great video. I’m 50 now and this picky eating is starting to reflect poorly on my health. I’m looking for any strategies to help, but it’s also nice to see others have the exact same challenges. I hate gagging in front of anyone, so trying new foods is tough. Also, my wife doesn’t understand how I can look at something and just know I can’t eat it. I wish we didn’t have this in common, but it’s nice to know I’m not the only weird one. Thanks for the video.

What helped me honestly the most was trying something new and pairing it with another food that I already liked

This actually helps more than you can imagine for me. I am going to try to follow some of these steps. I am an adult but have always been a picky eater, but I need to start making a change to be more healthy. Everything you said, like not wanting to eat food at friend's houses, or having anxiety from going to eat with work colleagues, it all rings true for me. Thank you.

This is very relatable, especially about other people judging you for it.

I eat relatively healthy, but I can't eat salad. To me it's like eating glad wrap and my stomach just about does a backflip just thinking about it.

I used to eat banana when I was a kid but can't just pick up and eat one now. However I do have them in my smoothies.

Thanks for this video, man! I’ve been overweight/toeing the line to obese since elementary school. I’ve never liked vegetables and definitely have some binge eating issues.

Great video, TJ. I'm going to visit Japan soon, with my best friend and the thing that I'm most anxious about is the food in Japan. The other night, I was on a discord call with him and he streamed his screen showing me videos of people eating the kinda food he wants to eat when we go. To me, the food looks vomit-inducing, but to him and everyone else, it looks delicious. It sucks too, because this is one of the main activities he wants to do. Experiencing all different kinds of Japanese food. Like, I'm fine with not eating anything when he's taking me to these places. I'll just eat what I want later, but I have the issue of it just straight up being awkward. Also, I know my friend can be a little preachy when it comes to stuff like this and if he sees that I'm looking at food with visible disgust, he's gonna give me some sort of lecture telling me why I should stop being so fussy. And as much as I'd like to try a lot of the food there, what if I don't like it? I don't like wasting food and I don't wanna offend the chefs who made it for me, assuming I think they did a bad enough job for me not to finish it. I would order whatever looks like something I'd enjoy on the menu, but I have the problem of a language barrier. I know some Japanese. For example, I know how to read all the kana and say a few sentences, but that's about all I know, so that's not really an option. But at the end of the day, your video has given me some courage. I think what I'm going to do is buy some convenience store food that I'd assume I wouldn't like and also buy stuff I know I'd like. That way I can try new food and if I don't like it, I have the stuff I like to eat, instead. That sounds pretty inexpensive and a good way of overcoming my fussy-niss.
