God Bless you for blessing your in-laws with a meal a month. There is nothing better for an elderly couple, sick individual or family, family with a newborn than to be blessed with a meal or two and then to have one of their favorite desserts----how special!!!

Emmy, I just love ya'll. Your energy is contageous! You and Paul seem so fun and very nice. I wish we had friends like you locally that know how to thrive without breaking the bank. Thank you for all you share with us! ❤

I drive 55 miles each way for groceries about every two to three weeks. I usually hit two stores and buy specials. I keep a running list of what I am down to in the pantry so I don't run out of anything mid recipe. Thank goodness for pantry and freezer inventory lists. A gift from watching this network to not just have a hodge podge in both places. I put all leftovers on the top shelf of my fridge and surf there first when hungry. Greatly reduced my food waste. Feeding the deer the wimpy carrots and apple scraps from baking muffins along with their corn mix I usually give them during the cold periods. I think the only thing I have is egg shells and the outer wrapper of onions going into trash since everything else goes in soup or for the deer. Miss Dixie. Some of her best videos are her sleeping in various crazy positions. I am all in for no spend January.

Paul please give us a Christmas present and open one of your videos by playing the guitar and doing a Christmas carol that would be so wonderful. Silent night???

You did some great cherry picking of the sale items! I shop weekly in the fall using sale flyers (where in my experience, fall has always had the best coupons and sales) and stock my meat feezer, vegetable freezer, pantry and household items like toilet paper and paper towels. Then it's only every other week for fresh items. We live off the stock all winter and into spring. When the weather turns bad like a prolonged cold snap, or a Nor'easter, I sure am glad that I dont have to go out anywhere! We try to make sure the freezers are empty come summer to clean them and get them ready for restocking the next fall. I also stock up on wood for our woodstove in the early fall. We were charged an extra $20 for a new "delivery fee" this year - that's such a crock! Never have we had to pay a delivery fee for wood. Also, by buying most of our food in the fall, it makes it easier to do a no spend month come January and /or February! See you Friday 😁

We shop once a week here! We started a challenge this past fall to quit eating out as much. We went from eating out twice a week. Drive thru’s and sit down. To 1 or twice a month. Saving big time. We count even ordering a pizza as eating out now. Thank you for all your great tips. :)

My entire life my mom shopped only the front page of the grocery ad. We never went hungry because of her frugality.

After watching your videos a habit which I practice now is I go to the discounted shelf first.
You're right there's no shame in buying discounted item.
What shameful is paying more for something that can be gotten for less.
Happy Holidays.

You two truly do bring us back to the basics. I just started two weeks ago shopping weekly. I am in the middle of 3 stores so I check each one of their sales. My biggest reminder to self is no spontaneous buying while I'm in those stores. Thank you for your videas...God bless you both!

Really enjoyed going to the grocery store with you. Hubs does all the grocery shopping, so I called him over to see those Lolli tomatoes. He is going to see if we have them at our store in Michigan (were they as sweet as you hoped?). He is a great sale shopper, too. I have been with you for a few weeks now, but this may be my first comment. Hope you take us on more shopping trips!

Black forest cake was my wedding cake. I love it! Here in West Haven, CT, we have Shoprite also. The food prices at Shoprite are exactly the same as yours. I have had to adjust my food budget because even Aldi's prices are fluctuating.

Excellent shopping!! I love that you took us in the store with you to actually see the prices.

I shop the same way. I have a cup or 2 of coffee every morning. I have found my best taste...best priced whole bean coffee at Aldi. It's Organic Whole bean coffee for from Peru at $3 a bag. I buy four bags at the time.
The local Starbucks charges $3.19 for 12 oz of black blonde roast 😱
What a rip off.

I am seeing meat prices near me in Central NC very high. Lowes had Turkeys at Thanksgiving for over $100.00 One hundred dollars..for ONE turkey.
Wegmans cooked turkey to serve 6 were $95.00!!!
I'd eat peanut butter & jelly before I would pay that....lol.

For my area Aldi's is the clear winner of grocery store savings. I am very stocked up.

I am also seeing animal/pet food go up. I have horses and the grain feed has gone up $5 per bag this year. And beet bulp has gone up $5 per bag.

We shop once a month. That’s our big, go to the “city” for deals trip. We refill our food stores on this trip. Then we go to our local store for things like milk, potatoes, carrots and celery and anything we forgot or couldn’t get in the “city”.

I’m motivated! Going to start stocking up as well for your/our January challenge! A chance to be creative.
Here in Western Michigan, I’ve noticed butter, eggs and some fresh produce prices bouncing all over the board. I too stock up when things are on sale.
I’m usually an every week shopper. Need to sharpen my ad usage and meal planning though.
Thanks again, Emmy and Paul. So much great info. Keep those unit cost in mind when shopping!
