My Favorite Personal Finance Books

Building and maintaining wealth in your life is about developing habits that allow you to enjoy life without setting you back financially. In this video, I share 10 frugal living habits that made me wealthy.

1. Enjoying The Outdoors

Many people have hobbies that are very expensive and end up hurting them financially. If you can find enjoyment from doing simple things, like spending time outdoors, you can become wealthy easier as your hobbies involve not spending money.

2. Learning To Cook Good Food

Many people avoid learning how to cook and end up spending a lot of money on eating out. When you learn how to cook good food, it makes you not want to go to restaurants as much, which allows you to save money.

3. Surrounding Yourself With Like Minded People

You are who you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with materialistic people who want to spend a lot of money, you will spend more money and it will become harder to build wealth. However, if you surround yourself with like minded people who are frugal, it is easier to build wealth.

4. Not Being Picky

Many people have standards so high that anything that they avoid anything that creates a slight amount of discomfort in their lives. If you become more open minded and lower your standards a bit, it's easier to build wealth.

5. Seeing The Financial Advantage Of Youth

When you invest in the stock market, you can build your wealth to something substantial over time; however, the truth about compound interest is that it is really important to invest as soon as possible because the sooner you invest, the more time the money has to grow.

6. Never Living In Extremes

It's important to diversify the things you find enjoyment in, in life because if you live an extreme life of avoiding things, it will eventually make you feel like you are depriving yourself. Having a balance allows you to enjoy life without feeling deprived.

7. Staying Healthy

Your health is a huge component of wealth building. When you are not in good health, it can cause many financial problems in your life because you become more limited. When you take good care of your health, both your body and finances improve.

8. Always Being Optimistic

Most of the information we hear on the economy is bad news that makes it sound like we are headed to bad times; however, this is because bad news gets more attention than good news. If you live your life as an optimist believing that we can overcome anything, you will live a wealthier life.

9. Be A Lifelong Learner

It's important to never stop learning in life and gaining new skills and knowledge. The more skills and knowledge you have, the wealthier you will become.

10. Finding Enjoyment In The Simple Things

People often have trouble with their finances because they find enjoyment through very complex things. If you can find enjoyment through the simple things in life, you life will be cheaper.

From the day my son turned 13 it was his job to cook dinner every Wednesday night. Never packaged or processed food, always fresh ingredients. For months we ate spaghetti bolognese until he expanded his repertoire.😂
He's 36 this week and still cooks a few times a week for his family.

About a year ago I realized I had a shopping addiction and theme park addiction. Listening to this channel I changed my mentality about money I joined a church started small investments and am continuing to dig myself out of debt with daily budgeting I have
9k left on my car when that is paid off I will continue on this path and hopefully retire early

Being able to cook a decent meal from scratch is a superpower. Ready meals are the scourge of the earth and will empty your pockets as fast as Ubereats!!!!

This is so me. 1. Coffee at home unless I'm out of town. 2. Love cooking my own food-especially in the crockpot. 3. Love nature especially beach walks and the birds. 4.Always learning new things especially languages. 5. Minimalism. 6. Super empath so I keep people on impersonal level-only one or two are close. That's enough and keeps away drama and stress.

Great video!

These are great tips! My favorite ones were finding contentment and not being too picky. I would add to the list: "don't be too influenced by what other people have or by social media". Once again, greetings from Buenos Aires!

Nice job. Reading through the comments it seems like many people use the terms wealth and money interchangeably. They are not synonyms. Wealth is the intersection of finances, health, and free time. Your videos have done a great job reinforcing this.

These are great videos they also remind me of minimalism. We really don't need huge amount of stuff, most of my home is full of things I NEVER use and just keeping things more simple and stopping impulse purchases goes directly towards not needing to earn or even save as much money. Most people think of a huge nest egg for retirement because of their constant spending most of which is not needed.

It's time people realize how right you are. Augustin, I pref~ a simple life, not too big a space, I'm getting older. I want to be able to pay my bills and have some fun. I prefer simplicity. ❤

Thank you for the happy, serene, and humorous video! I truly am a millionaire, with a 7 figure net worth. Growing up, I studied the habits of millionaires in an effort to comprehend what influences their choice of financial strategies. I don't know who needs to hear this saving for a better investment is a great step to financial freedom you're saving a day off work

AUGUSTIN!!! My mom and I love your videos! The point about enjoying simple things is one of the things we live by. Learning to enjoy simple things will not only allow you to not spend money on experiences, but will also just make you happier overall. Our society places so much emphasis on expensive crazy experiences and the "work hard, play hard" mentality. If you follow this line of thinking, you will simply have less good experiences in your life since you have to work so much to make the money to fund those experiences. Enjoy simple things and your life will be richer.

THANK YOU!! For the picky part of the video.I have struggles with self identity, and what you said about being picky openend my eyes a little. I always do go back to the same old clothing and stuff. What means we do not NEED to own what’s “IN” right now just use what you have.

I agree and largely live by those ideas. However, I live in Ohio and it's a little depressing because it "seems" like we have two types of people.
the first group gets up at 4am every day. Drives 2 hours to work, work 8-10 hours and drive 2 hours to get home and they are $500k- $ 1mil in debt and always will be, and that is all they care about.
The second group sleeps in until 12 noon every day, plays video games, gets high all day and won't work at all.
it would be nice to meet up with "like-minded people" that enjoy hiking and intellectual activities. (Not shopping and trying to outdo the Jones's)
No luck so far.
Thanks for the video. keep up the good work.
