Here in Ireland weve had some seriously bad weather this October. Made it a point to stick to the schedule and train anyway. Starting to enjoy the rain and wind on the trails. Stick to it and you begin feeling energised by it. Sense of achievement afterwards is huge and wife looks at me like I'm insane. So worth it.

I embrace the cold and it is fun working in it. People look at me crazy tho they assume Carribbean folks hate the cold and love the heat 😆 🤣

I love getting outdoors in the winter and running. I hate cardio in the summer. So I've adopted an ultra endurance focus in the winter with strength focus in the summer. Looking forward to my 70km race in February and two other marathons between now and April :D

Recently started rucking every day again, this time outside

For virtually all of my life I was terrified of working out on cold days or rainy days because I believed that I would get horribly sick

Now after rucking for 30 minutes on workdays and close to 3 hours on days off, with mostly just a rain poncho over my shirt and base layer, I can pretty confidently say that I actually prefer to work out on miserable days

Where I live, it's only recently started hitting -15'C and it's been an absolute blast and I'm really excited to see how far I can go (This place hits close to -50'C in december). I will say that I haven't tried any sprinting, HIIT or conventional stationary resistance training outside and I have been a bit worried because of it's very stop and start nature where you basically get blasted with sweat before having to take a rest and catch your breath compared to the constant temperature when rucking

Once I get over COVID (10th day out of 14 before I can go back to exerting myself), I'm definitely going to try it out

During the winter months for 10-15 minutes in the morning I like to go outside bare chested and barefoot and embrace the cold. In my experience it really helps with tolerating the cold.

Respect for listing the 6 things before going into detail on them

Being flexible has been key for me. Changing days or times of sessions to capitalise on social events, work events and favourable weather.

Looking forward to this series, last year was great! Could you do a video on warming up and cooling down especially as it’s cold as you want to just get out and get on with it, but it’s so important to prevent injury

Always enjoy this series, I'm also located more north than most and the lack of light is one of the hardest parts for me personally. Something important to remember is there's no such thing as too much natural light! Getting outside even on the cloudiest of days is going to help keep your body and mind on track.

Can't wait to follow The Wintering. I am a weird one in that I LOVE the winter, everything outside in the cold is my jam. I need 'The Summering' to get my a$$ our in the blistering heat. 🤣

My main goals for this winter are process goals. Keep running, getting up slightly earlier so I can run or do some strength or mobility before work. I hate training in the morning but I have a newish baby so I don't have much time to train during my preferred training times.

Great video! I'm a mountain biker and I don't have a stationary bike so I have to get out to get my base miles on the street and time on the trails so I don't lose all my fitness and skills. When the weather is really bad I'll do some shorter rides at higher intensity to keep me warmer. If I don't feel like getting out I'll pick a nice spot with a view or I'll bring a chocolate bar with me for motivation. I focus more on my bike skills which I can do in a parking lot for example. I'll change things up and go hiking or try new sports, possibly indoors. And even though it's off season, training in the winter is as important as training during the season. I look forward to the next season knowing my struggles will be reaarded. If you generally lack motivation in the winter it might be due to lack of sunlight. Get a daylight lamp for home, it'll improve your mood. Low levels of Vit. D3 can also cause lack of motivation. Take a supplement or visit a sunbathing studio. Find a sauna, infrared cabin or SPA and treat yourself. Focus on your mental health, having fun and don't be too hard on yourself. Stay consistent!
