Another option for dealing with Shrieker nests is the Laser cannon. The laser cannon can annihilate Shriekers, if you can clip them with it they will die. On top of this it also makes quick work of the nests too, being able to destroy one of the shrooms in a nest in a few seconds without having to cool down. On top of this you can take the nests down from practically any range and it has unlimited ammo if you don't overheat the cannon.

The greatest threat a shrieker poses to me is when they roleplay an imperial zero, as their lifeless corpse crashes into me.

autocannon is def my favorite method of dealing with these. you can clear the whole thing in 30 seconds across the map, while only using up half of your ammo. EAT can only take out one, and the recoilless rifle requires all of your ammo to take out all three.

the autocannon has always been my favorite support weapon, and the amount of utility it provides for completing objectives just keeps growing and growing every patch

I really like the shrieker enemy.
It feels different from shooting the ground targets.
Aiming and shooting at Shriekers feels like shooting clay pigeons, that want to dive-bomb me and tear my arms off.

An added idea, that would also be pretty frighting, would be if shriekers would be able to pick up helldivers and drop them further away from their team.
In doing so, they could be targets for more shriekers to swarm the helldiver unlucky to be picked up and dragged away. And there is the added effect of attempting to save the unlucky teammate by trying to hit the shrieker but not killing the teammate that has been grabbed by said shrieker.

incendiary breaker shotgun trivializes these bad boys. You can shoot 2 rounds into a group of 8 and the dot will kill them.

The gatling /machinegun turrets are really damn good at taking out the bats when they pop up. The machine gun's faster turning is particularly useful in killing them specifically though the Gatling is overall more versatile.

I've noticed that enough damage to the wings does cause them to drop out of the sky and die. It might simply be that the wings are part of the health pool, though.
Also, if you manage to get to a shrieker nest without having ground-based enemies after you, the shriekers tend not to attack terribly often for whatever reason. You can often arm the Hellbomb in peace.
While it's incredibly hard to pull off, if you get a charger to run over a swooping shrieker, it'll kill the shrieker instantly and do some internal damage to the charger, though it won't stun the charger.

I'd comment something about shriekers not existing, but I ran into six whole nests of them in my three hours of playing today

AA flak is my suggestion to everyone.
Incendiary breaker is great.
Spray and pray should be great too.

With all the crashing, my squad vanished right as we got to the Shrieker Nest. Between the Stalkers near by, the Mob of Hunters, the Ion Storm and the Shriekers … took me 9 lives and a finally a hell bomb to end the slaughter. Finally random Divers showed up. Snatched up a dozen rare samples, 5 Supers, and was on our way out the door…… Game Crashes …. I cried a little 😂

Though I haven't found it great when fighting bugs in general, the Scorcher is really effective against Shriekers. It easily 1-taps them, I think thanks to a larger hurt-box perhaps? Or maybe an explosive weakness or something like that. I dunno the exact mechanics, but it works surprisingly well. Would probably need something else for the nest--I didn't try shooting the nest with it.

I was so offended that these things could kill so easily, but then I thought about the flyers in Starship troopers and those things were decapitating people like flying guillotines so... I guess these are ok too.

they're deadly like any terminid is deadly. Alone or in small numbers they aren't a big issue, but it's absolutely terrifying when you see 20 of these guys flying at you in a flock.

the new plasma punisher is good if you can hit the shrieker with it as it dives. its a fairly consistent oneshot on any part of the body and the blast knocks the dive off course so you dont get physics object killed by the ragdoll

Just FYI - the hit marker colour indicates penetration/soft/unarmoured spots, not “weak” points (points that do more damage). Bugs are weird because their weak points (heads) are normally armoured
