As a trumpet player: if you've ever watched brass players, they usually don't blow out their cheeks, even though they're pushing out a lot of air. All brass players are taught early on that pushing air out with your cheeks will stretch the muscles out, as this video shows. Strangely enough, blowing out your cheeks like this really reduces the effectiveness of your air pressure since the air is redirected to the pockets of the cheeks instead of being pushed strait from the trachea to the front of the mouth. There are some brass instruments, like tubas, that use more air pressure than other instruments, and can cause musicians to blow out their cheeks by necessity - I'm assuming glassblowing also requires a similar amount of air pressure to be effective. If you're a glassblower or a beginner wind instrumentalist, I highly recommend practicing blowing through your mouth and not through your cheeks in order to avoid getting the same issue as this guy.
