I know Microsoft adds some useful features too, but it seems like with every new release of Excel we lose some great features as well. I still miss the old way that Sort worked ... it would remember your previous sort parameters (remember that?). So often I sort similar data and I get very tired of inserting the same parameters over and over and over (and yes I use macros to do repetitive tasks, but I still very much prefer the old sort).

I agree the "new" way to to navigate to files is pretty terrible. I have the "save as" added to the Quick Access Toolbar to avoid this.

Another tip, is to copy the address at the top of the screen of the folder where you want to save the file, then paste that in the Excel Save As dialog box and it will navigate to that folder before you specify the name.

Another tip is if you want to attach the file you are working on to an email or other location, do a Save As and copy the address that shows up in the dialog box and used copied path to navigate to the file, or use the dialog box to drag and drop the file.

Thanks Mynda. In one of your future videos, could you explain how to use the "Other Locations" section of the Excel "Open" screen. I can't get these to work. Neither "This PC" nor "Browse" will let me set a location. There are folder locations showing up, but they are ones from long ago. And the "Add a Place" looks like I can only use OneDrive. How is this supposed to work? I can't find anything about how to set this area up so I can quickly open folders and files that I want. Thanks.

Excel Backstage View is a stupid non-ergonomic thing. In Office 365 Beta Insider Microsoft introduces Personal Toolbar. It's about time Microsoft brought back classic CommandBars after 16 years with dockable and customizable… The Ribbon is dead, especially since Microsoft didn't add an editor to it.

Thanks for the tip using save as by selecting F12. In the past I was able to use F12 as save as but now when selected, it shuts down the computer. I now use the desktop short cut but prefer F12. Is there a fix for this?
