(Part 1) At the end of the LotR-trilogy, when standing at the Grey Havens, Frodo reveals that he will be going with the last ship to leave Middle-Earth, to the shock and grief of his friends. (HD Blu-ray)

This scene is so emotional, sad and heartbreaking, but still so beautiful and a perfect ending.

I loved that moment when bilbos face seemed to come alive. Its like he became 10 years younger in an instant. You could also see it on the elves face, them basically thinking about just how incredible a race these hobbits truly are. He bore the ring for the better part of a century, gave it up willingly, and even now can smile and step forward with joy in his heart. Bilbo really is built different.

After 7, 100+ years, Galadriel can finally see her parents and beloved brother again. She looks so hopeful for the future.

We can all agree our boy Bilbo Baggins is the GOAT. Dude held the ring, assisted thorin and fought in multiple battles and stood beside a freaking dragon. Only to walk towards the ship like a boss without saying goodbye

To see Gandalf departing from Middle Earth felt heart wrenching.

There will be no better mentor than the Wizard who chose love over power.

We all need Gandalf in our lives.

There is something so emotionally devastating about Gandalf leaving Middle Earth.

Galadriels smile is so heartwarming. She has lived through so much crazy stuff in middle earth. Her smile is full of hope and excitement 🥺

This is exactly how Sir Ian Holm passed from this world to the next. With a twinkle in his eye and a spirit for adventure. What a great actor.

Today is January 3rd, 2023. J.R.R. Tolkien's 131st birthday, the same age as Bilbo Baggins when he sailed away from Middle-Earth.

*Cheers to the Professor's memory and his enduring legacy!*

The line delivery at 0:51 by Hugo Weaving is so perfect. His voice is like a salve. Millennia of strife and heartbreak now fading away. You can feel the yearning, the love, the peace the elves now sail to in Valinor.

According to Ian Mckellen, this was one of the first scènes they shot together. So he was saying goodbye to people he barely knew. Ironic.

Galadriel rebelled against the Valar and came to Middle-Earth some 7000 years ago, to seek new life and establish a realm of her own. In that time she has watched all her brothers and cousins die, empires rise and fall, the defeat of both Morgoth and Sauron, Silmarils passed on to the Earth, Sky and Water and, finally, the One Ring destroyed in Fire.

Now her longing is ended and a ship is ready for her, as she is ready for it. Brings tears to my eyes.

I always loved this scene, seeing how Bilbo go from being a frail old man to a old man with a lust for adventure.

nothing could hurt me more than knowing Gandalf was leaving Middle-earth forever. I was in tears as a child and felt like I lost a family member.

I can't imagine the sheer pride Manwë must have in Gandalf for going beyond his assigned task.

I love how you can see an old grey elf, Cirdan the Shipwright, just chilling in the backround of this scene. These movies' attention to detail is astounding!

Love the immense respect the elves have for Bilbo. Besides Gollum and the Sackville Bagginses, he won the heart of every soul he encountered on his travels.

"Farewell my brave hobbits".. as grumpy Gandalf sometimes was and even mad, about especially Pippin, in the end he knows, they gave everything to save their friends and their belove SHire. This movie is so well told and written... to this day, my most emotional movie moment.
