It's little acts of kindness like Pippin pouring Gandalf a cup of water without been asked that really make the fellowship for me.

“I don’t want to be in a battle. But waiting on the edge of one I can’t escape is even worse.”
This line is all the more stomach churning when you realise that Tolkien fought at the Somme.

After calling Pippin "a fool" throughout the trilogy, hearing Gandalf describing their chances of victory as "A Fool's Hope" really just knocks that line out of the park

"I don't want to be in a battle. But waiting on the edge of one I cannot escape is even worse." I hear you, Pippin...

"But we have the white wizard. That´s got to count for something."
I love it... :)

Love how Gandalf intonates "The Witch-king of Angmar" in this scene.

Sir Ian mckellen is an absolute treasure. How blessed are we that he accepted the role of Gandalf

"Our enemy is ready. His full strength gathered." I love those two lines. You just know then that shit is gonna go down.

Every sentence has purpose, just love how you get sucked in to the movie. Especially this scene

I just love their relationship. Yes, Pippin is clumsy sometimes, and Gandalf can be a little bit harsh on him, but you can clearly see that they like each other.
Little moments like Pippin giving him water, or Gandalf holding Pippin while he's asleep on their way to Minas Tirith, "Just a fool's hope" and then the smile, Gandalf's speech about death...Just great. 😊

"Just a fools hope"

Then he looks at Pipin and smiles.

If not for Pip he would never have become Gandalf the White.

The cinematography and transitioning in this scene is just amazing. It's pretty easy to see why the LOTR series was nominated for so many picture awards.

I just love that while Gandalf is mocking and calling him “ridiculous Hobbit”, Pippin is busy pouring Gandalf a cup of water because he’s a nice guy. Details.

I love how Gandalf just roasts Pippin every chance he can get

“Ridiculous hobbit”

The cinematography is superb. Two adults shot side by side yet one looks like an human and the other scaled to a hobbit. CGI has killed such special visual techniques in cinema. Shout out to Peter Jackson, the pirate captain in this clip

The witch king was way scarier in the fellowship and the Nazgûl’s introduction was probably the darkest well done horror fantasy scenes I’ve watched…..like when they all stab the beds I was 11 years old in the theatre and I felt like the movie was actually real and sucked you in. Timeless treasure

Damn the witch-king makes me shiver every time I watch this scene, it's so well made

Anyone who claimed that LOTR was just all about battle scenes and spectacle clearly ignored the brilliant poignancy of moments like this.
