LOTR The Return of the King Pippin sees inside the Palantir

Favorite moment in LOTR.
Gandalf: 
"So, I got good news and bad news."
"Bad news- Sauron knows everything Pippin knows."
"Good news tho. Pippin doesn't know jack shit."

I love when Gandalf turns around to yell at Pippin but stops when he sees he’s actually hurt. He was really the father figure to the hobbits.

What's almost hilarious about this, is that Pippin's action here will trigger an absolutely humongous missunderstanding for Sauron.
Sauron will think that when he gets from Gollum that a hobbit has the ring... he thinks Pippin has it, and then when Aragon shows himself to Sauron, he asumes Aragon has it.
Then Aragon goes to Minas tirith. This would make sense as a ring-bearer, drunk in power, going to usurp the throne, which further convinces Sauron that he has the ring bearer on his sights now. Then the siege of Sauron happens, but it fails, but it's all good: Sauron is already mobilizing an even bigger force, and Rohan and Gondor's forces in comparison are depleted now. And he knows who the ring bearer is! he ain't going anywhere!
But then... Aragon assaults the gates of Mordor. Sauron is delighted: the ring has brainwashed Aragon into thinking that he can defeat Sauron, and brought him directly to the gates of Mordor, with nothing but this pathetic gang of soldiers underequipped and underprepared.

But no.

Aragon doesn't have the ring. Aragon only went there as a man with a megaphone to scream and cause noise and distract Sauron. Aragon doesn't realize he is making a 4D chess move here by making Sauron think he has the ring, and that it's at his grasp. Sauron is so delighted he even teases his prey, sending the mouth of Sauron to negotiate a surrender. He has it, the ring bearer, surrounded by endless hordes of orks, this is it.

And then Frodo puts the ring on inside Mt. Doom. And Sauron bricks it.
He suddenly feels the ring inside Mt. Doom. He has screwed up big time. And as the ring is fighting for it's dear life in brainwashing Frodo, Gollum comes in and finishes the job.

Basically Lord of the Rings is an accidental comedy in disguise as everyone is making the wrong moves and yet they come out well.

I think it's actually quite sweet that when Aragorn grabs the palantir from Pippin, Legolas supports him and even stops Aragorn from hitting the floor hard. No one talks about that little detail but it's one of my favourites

I love how someone as evil and malicious as Sauron cannot even tell hobbits apart. Pippin's foolishness is a great plot device.

Consider that Pippin, despite being the youngest of the Hobbits, was able to withstand Sauron's interrogation of him. That shows a strength of mind not matched by many in the series.

You have to admit that while he is a fool of a took, if he hadn’t, in his foolishness, looked into the palantir, Gondor probably would have fallen

Gandalf sleeping with his eyes open cracked the audience up, but man, it got really intense when Sauron was getting into Pippin's mind. "I saw him" still gives me the chills

Not enough people give Pippin credit: poor guy had a fucking _Maiar_ screaming in his mind, and he _still_ didn't snitch.
That's a whole new level of Ride Or Die.

I love how Aragorn didnt even flinch before taking the palantir to save Pippin. Considering he was the real opponent Sauron fears, it could have been so dangerous (he wasnt prepared for this like he was prepared at the end of the movie) and like.. he is the king.. yet he didnt even hesitate before putting himself at risk to save the life of an hobbit.
