Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.

All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.

How to remove ear wax?

Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!

How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?

If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

Qtip user here. Can’t stop won’t stop. I have no clue how any regular qtip user would miss the tip not coming out. If there is any color on the cotton I’m blown away.

I removed a broken piece of a toothpick from my 92 year old dad's ear. It was in there for about 6 months before it started hurting and working its way out. He has always put anything in his ears to scratch them. It was more than a cm long. Thanks for your videos.

This is like a more intense version of the game operation 😅😮‍💨

Ok, I need to process this- so someone stuck a qtip in their ear and took it out without the cotton on the end and didnt realize the missing piece was still in their ear??

Used cotton buds all my life. Bought an endoscope recently to look in my ears due to all the fear mongering around buds pushing wax towards the ear drum.
I was clean as whistle and will continue to sensibly use cotton buds in my ears.

The expression on Rhys while the cotton buds were being removed was priceless!

So funny you talk about that at the end with middle ear infection. Because of you guys i didn’t freak out when I had one a couple of weeks ago. I had the flu pretty bad and got an ear/sinus infection and at one point my ears would not pop. I held my nose and blew trying to make them and heard the air bubble into my ear and omg. I’ve never heard anything like it before. But if I hadn’t been watching your channel for so long I would have panicked. Now I know that it can happen so easily with a cold and after two days they came right! Saved me a heap of stress and money at the docs haha. Thank you for spreading knowledge it’s so much appreciated!

I use qtips to dry my ears. I get a lot of fluid drainage and that works best to remove the moisture

Your thumbnail is hilarious. I just have to say how neat it's been watching Taylor go from being kind of uncomfortable in front of the camera in the beginning to looking like he's been doing this for years. You guys are top notch. Cheers!

Fabulous job gentlemen! The husband of Taylor’s patient probably took advantage of her newly restored hearing to lecture her about cotton bud usage all the way home. 🤣

When my daughter was young she refused to blow her noise and when she had a cold it was a nightmare as her eardrum burst and created a real mess on her pillow. After that I’d make sure she blew her nose about 6 times to clear any congestion.

Is this type of “deep cleaning” procedure common? Is it usually done at an ENT doctor’s office? I’ve always been curious to see what mine are like as a lifelong q-tip user.

What does it mean if the eardrum is dull? You mentioned this patient had a slightly dull eardrum and it sparked my curiosity.

Naming and showing the tools you work with and the areas you are working in, makes it all the more informative and interesting for me, thank you.

What kind of cotton buds do you people across the pond use? Ours are attached to sticks and rarely come detached.

Once I stayed the night with my best friend whose step father was a a Doctor and her mother a nurse and after I showered I ask for a Q Tip to clean my ear and I got a lecture on never using a Q Tip inside your ear.But to this day I still do because my pet peev is when you can see dark orange or brown wax in someone's ear, it makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm in the USA and wish I could see you guys. I know my tube is blocked. I felt it about 10 yrs ago.. I'm just dealing with it. They do not have great service here in the USA... Thank you for all your help and blessings to all of you ❤❤
