This video documents my journey learning Portuguese in 7 days by breaking down what is ordinarily and overwhelming task (learning a new language) and focus my time and energy on the most important parts. My goal here is become conversational as quickly as possible and demonstrate that you're capable of more than you think if you're strategic & disciplined about how your approach things.

Time Stamps:

0:00 – Accelerated Learning
0:45 – Context for this challenge
3:00 – Step 0: Finding Your Mission
4:42 – Step 1: Gathering the Building Blocks
9:20 – Step 2: The Glue
11:13 – Step 3: Enter the Bubble
13:08 – Final Thoughts + Putting it all Together

Brasileiro é um povo simples: se ele vê no título de um vídeo as palavras Brasil, português e brasileiro, ele clica.

For anyone learning a new language and getting frustrated by what you see as a lack of progress: I was in Paris before the pandemic shut everything down. Hung out with a French friend, went to a party where I listened to her have a conversation in French with two other people. I didn’t catch everything they said but I *understood* enough to know they were talking business and she was giving them advice. They kept turning to me to apologize about not including me but I was more than happy listening in and realizing I understood more than I thought I would. Understanding is the first step! Keep going in whatever endeavor you’re taking on.

I'm Brazilian and I've been learning English for 7 months and I can understand perfectly what he speaks and you can learn Portuguese too because it requires dedication and exposure of this language, if you persist you can achieve this

Learning a new language is like discovering a whole new planet with own culture, traditions, quarks and small nuances.
It consumes you entirely, feeling totally reborn.

For anyone that doesn't have connections with people that speak the language they want to learn, I would highly recommend HelloTalk. It's an app where you have conversations with people specifically looking to learn languages.

I've always thought the most important part in learning a language (or anything really) is actually taking the first step. It doesn't have to be boring or technical, once you have a small basis it gets a lot more fun, cause language is always cultural and once you get to that, there is no stopping the learning process. Loved this video!
