I work from home and use a Mac for work but game on the Series X and PS5. This is the perfect monitor for my home office! While I have a LG CX, I've always preferred to game on a monitor. Just thought I'd add this detail in since you mentioned you weren't sure why someone would use this with a Mac.

I bought the LG GP950-B and I think it’s a great panel. To my surprise there’s forced RGB light show every time you boot up the monitor. I am returning this monitor and did something very risky and give in to this Eve spectrum “hype”.

Considering knowing their track record this might be the stupidest thing ever but I’ll give them one chance.

This is like my perfect monitor, 27 inches, very thin bezels, 120hz ps5 capable, usb c, no gamer over the top RGB mess. The only thing missing is if it came with built-in speakers but I can’t complain.

Edit: received an email to complete purchase (I pledged $100 on Tuesday August 31st, email came September 2nd.) That came faster than I was expecting but now to wait 18-35 days to arrive to my house, pain pure pain.

Edit 2: they cancelled my order and “refunded” me even tho I didn’t ask for a cancellation. Oh well not buying it again.

You say that you “don’t know why you’d [be rocking a MacBook Pro] with this monitor” but right before that, you mention the biggest reason: 100W of passthrough power on the same cable you can use to plug into the display. That’s what initially attracted me so much to the Eve Spectrum 4K as a designer who works on both MacOS and Windows (and the MBP 16" uses 96W). I really don’t know what a good alternative would be besides the professional LG OLEDs coming in some indeterminable near-future which might still use the ridiculous-looking C-base stand, at a $3K+ pricetag that’s not that much better than the Pro Display XDR.

Do not buy from EVE, I pre ordered October of 2020, made my final payment in May and still have not received any updates. If you contact their customer support, you pretty much get an automated response “thanks for your patience, it is expected to ship ASAP”.

Great review! I am waiting to receive this monitor and looking forward to playing 4K games on it. BTW, what light bars are you using in the video and can you sync the colors with the PC games? They look very modern and sleek. I have the Hue Play light bars myself.

Hey man, I've had the monitor for about a month now and I've had a big problem. Everytime i alt tab out of a fullscreen game, the screen goes black for about 3-5 seconds. Im running 4k144hz obviously with a proper dp 1.4 cable. Tried both a 2070 super and a 3070 and both had the problem so its not a faulty gpu. All ive found so far is that it could have something to do with the bandwidth of 4k144hz being close to the dp 1.4 limit. Going to 4k60hz fixes it. Also, borderless fullscreen fixes it but i really prefer proper fullscreen. Have you experienced this problem as well?

Can you please make S3422DWG review, I'm really interested in it, but I'm scared of ghosting/black smearing. I currently own S2719DGF(TN Panel) and would like to upgrade, possibly to ultrawide. Your LG Ultra Gear is one of the options but the GP model is not yet available in my country, 34GN850 is but it is cca. 1000€. Acer Predator X34GS that is similarly priced here has better specs on paper, and design, so if I decide to spend that much money would probably go for Predator(also not many review online for it, don't know why).
