BACK PAIN IS MYSTERIOUS | There is No Root Cause of Pain

There is no root cause of pain. Pain is multifactorial, it is influenced by countless factors that can be biological, psychological, social, or other. A biopsychosocial model of health care and low back pain rehab is needed to address the complex web of causative factors that modulate pain. Unfortunately, physical therapists, chiropractors, personal trainers, and even yoga teachers have recently become obsessed with pain science. Pain science education is wonderful at helping us all to be less fearful and decrease kinesiophobia and fear-avoidance. Pain science education helps us communicate with better language so that we avoid nocebic narratives surrounding pain and exercise. However, it also tends to leave people with the false impression that pain is in the brain and therefore biomechanics don't matter, that form and exercise technique doesn't matter, and that alignment doesn't matter. This is an extreme viewpoint that simply isn't supported by current scientific literature. THERE IS NO ROOT CAUSE OF PAIN!
.
.
Biomechanics do matter, and structure does matter, it just doesn't matter as much as we used to think, and just because a person has degenerative disc disease, disc herniations, tight muscles, poor posture, lower crossed syndrome, or anatomical variations, does NOT doom them to a lifetime of suffering. Pain science education teaches us that we can have hope and optimism that even with these things, a person can live a healthy and functional life.

Agree. Pain is complicated. I have been diagnosed slipped disc early this May. Doctor said it was very minor. But due toheavy travels and very soft matress. I experienced the crazy lower back pain recently. Especially with 2nd shot of Pfrizer vaccine l got one day can't get out of bed at all... But all good after two weeks. What helps me is stretching relaxing muscles and tissue abs and hip/butt exercise plus abdominal breathing practice. Plus l am very careful in everyday life quit the bad habit for lower back. Haha for some reason my right leg is much stronger than left it caused the imbalance and l used to walk by edge of my feet. Now l try to balance and walk by whole feet.

It's very hard to get better we all need to figure out the root cause for pain. Everyone is different. Thanks for your sharing hopefully more people can watch it. I know lower back pain really kills PEOPLE.
