Apple ProRes LOG is one of the biggest leap forward in filmmaking with the iPhone, Apple LOG makes the iPhone 15 Pro Max one of the best cameras you can have with you at all times. Apple LOG makes iPhone footage look much more cinematic and closer to mirrorless cameras, but is Apple LOG flawless? Of course it's not. I saw dozens of creators online talking about the issues with Apple LOG, but none of those flaws seams to be a real problem, but I found 5 REAL ISSUES of Apple LOG and today I'll show those to you and how to work around those issues. Seems to me a better title would be “Five Real Issues with Black Magic Camera App.” I know the native camera app doesn’t give us the level of control we see in the Black Magic app - but it seems working with it solves most the problems outlined here. Thanks for the great video!

Thanks for the great content! One question. Would you recommend using the native ISO in bright daylight? For instance, I want to maintain a 180-degree shutter angle, 24fps, and ISO 1250. In this case, I’d need a strong ND filter, correct? Do you think it’s better to lower the ISO and compromise some dynamic range, or invest in a high-quality ND filter to preserve the native ISO?

I know BM app you have more control BUT I have better results using the native app. The final image looks better and I don’t have to do fiddle with the settings too much. Just my experience

What's stopping Apple from making the default look of iPhone videos natural - like the LOG footage + the proper edit? Instead, they go for the overdone look you've shown in other videos, which doesn't play nice with just about anything you're shooting... Really irritating. And I don't buy the "they want the videos to be social media ready" argument, because nowadays everyone edits their TikTok and IG videos anyway. Plus, I'm positive people would actually notice and appreciate a more DSLR look. I hope they start dialing back the processing as the sensors grow in size. IPhone 16 Pro is getting a 1/1.4 primary. IPhone 17/18 Pro should have a 1-inch primary.

You have to change the title to “5 real issues of BlackMagic Camera App”. I personally shot Apple Log wit the native app and 0 issues.
