Here's what worked for me 1. Remove sim card 2. Do the hard reset 3. Put back sim card as soon as the hard reset begins. It took me like 5 times with the hard reset until I did all three steps and it worked. Not sure if it was the hard reset or removing the Sim Card. But there is hope.

Yes, it worked for me too (like for many in the comments here). iPhone 11 got restored with the second option, no need to factory reset. Thank you so much this worked delightfully, When I first tried it it didn't work so I tried the reboot and that cost so money so I tried iTunes again and had to restore it Luckily I had my photos numbers and etc backed up and got the phone working.

Thank you so much!! This worked! I was so worried when the apple logo was on my screen for hours. Sharing my experience here:

Some of my apps were crashing when I open them (could be because of my full memory) then the apple logo appeared. Tried to charge it and did the force reset for 2-3 hours but it didnt work. This happened to me 2 years ago with my iPhone 8 plus but the service center told me that my phone automatically updated the iOS even though the automatic update was turned off the whole time. The only way was to restore the phone and all files were deleted. Did not want this to happen again so I wanted to fix my phone this time around lol.

I followed step 2 (iTunes) but the recovery mode lasts only upto 15 mins (at least for my phone), so it automatically disconnects/ejects from the laptop before the update on the laptop finishes. Tried this maybe 4 times and prayed--still did not work.

Last option was to try Reiboot (without data loss). Was hesitant at first but I saw great reviews about it and worked based on the comments here. Better to pay for that subscription than lose all the data by a service center. I tried it for 3-4 times until it worked as the recovery mode only lasts for 15 mins and I had to reconnect it all the time. Still prayed here while doing it. And finally it worked!! The progression bar appeared and my iOS got updated. Took me 3 hours to finish plus more minutes for my photos to be finally seen in the gallery.
