Can’t feel your LATS during pulldowns? DO THIS!

Alright, quick tip when you’re doing kneeling lat pulldowns, don’t drive your elbow back behind you cuz this shifts the tension away from your lats causing you to retract your scapula. Instead, drive your elbow down towards your hips while pulling your shoulder away from your ear and slightly crunching to the side. This lets you pull down and in rather than straight back which yields a much better contraction in your lat.

When doing Lat pulldowns, rows or such, make sure you really feel your lat muscle, imagine it working. Driving the elbows back, down and behind you is key in feeling lats. If you also squeeze your Lats at the bottom position of the exercise, you will feel it 100%. Do it slow and controlled.

I finally switched from lat cable pullovers to this single arm lat pulldown and with this form and wow my lats were sore afterwards.

Also, scapula retraction while doing this is fine; you just wanna align yourself with the line of pull of your lats

Good explanation 👍 but the only problem ive with this exercise is when i use a little more weight it becomes difficult to stay stable. So i prefere it on a lat pulldown mashine.

Can you do a similar video to this when doing chest supported dumbbell rows? I struggle to feel my lats when doing so.

I'll try this tomorrow, I'm currently biasing my right lat because on a major imbalance and discovered this exercise, felt a little lat for the first set but didn't feel it after that, now I realised what I did wrong, thank you

Any more tips to fix this imbalance? I'm still a beginner (3 months since started) so I think I'll recover this imbalance fast but still I need to fix it asap

Nice bro. Any advice on lat pain in the crease between lat and rear by armpit. Pulldowns hurt even with moderate weight.
