Paul, you're a genius! I've been trying to fix my running toilet for weeks. Put a few drops of red food coloring into the tank and it showed the water was leaking into the bowl. Replaced flapper valve, still leaking. Per your suggestion I cleaned the opening where the flapper valve covers with a utility brush and magic. NO MORE LEAK. Hip, hip hooray. Thank you so much. I was ready to buy a new toilet.

Thank you soooo much! I just bought my toilet less than 6 mths ago. It's a glacier bay power flush so it's a power house toilet. I flushed it and it kept running. I'm not handy, so I decided to watch YouTube. Couldn't find anything to help until I cane across your post. I installed a whole new flash valve(fluid master brand) and toilet still leaking and fill valve kicking in.
I have installed dozens of them.
Now I have to go back and replace the new flapper with an other new flapper for free to keep customer happy.
