Anyone else attempt this without turning off water valve, scramble to put assembly back on, break the attached arm, and get blasted in the face / flood their bathroom? Just me?

God Bless You, Man!!! Saw the tip in the nick of time jist as I was about to order the entire pricier valve assembly. The replaced gasket looked damage free and yet the replacement worked like a charm. Sending lots of positive vibes your way!!!

My fill take runs and when i push the fill valve down it stops do i need tk replace it?
