This makes SO much sense! I always fast after being in a deficit. Thank u so much for clearing this up!

I think this happened to me. I had gotten myself to an OMAD eating pattern over the course of several months with fewer than 10 grams of carbs per day, and I noticed that I was cold constantly. In the middle of a Florida summer, 90-100 degree Fahrenheit days, I was comfortable outside -- and indoors, with 69-74 degrees temp, I was always in a sweater. Other than that, I felt great - but I became worried about my thyroid. So, I raised by calories and went back to a 16:8 intermittent fast daily, and now I'm not cold indoors anymore.

I have never heard anyone put it so succinctly... Don't fast from a place of a caloric deficit! Perfect!

Excellent information and easy to understand explanation, Robert! I am reverse dieting right now and it’s a struggle to not do longer fasts as I work on health issues and hormone balance. Fasting is a great tool but I am learning I need to use the tools that benefit me and my body.

Nice explanation. I see way too many people wreck their health by chronic fasting and caloric restriction.
Apart from that : Have you considered uploading more of your podcasts here on youtube ?

Great advice with regards to extended fasting and caloric deficit at the same time. I do ADF as my fasting protocol so I watch quite a few ADF videos and I'm always concerned when I see people calorie restricting on their eating days. It might be okay to do that on occasion, but to calorie restrict and do ADF seems counterproductive and not the healthiest long term option.

Thank you so much Robert. This makes perfect sense. I know this is exactly where I’m at. I need to work on increasing my caloric intake (I average 1000-1400 on the days I eat). I have 5-10 pounds left to lose. I know I have no where to cut until I get my BMR to a healthy level. I need to bite the bullet and be ok with gaining a little back in order to be able to cut to the final goal. Easier said than done though😬 Thanks again, can’t wait to try the chocolate malt bricks.

I love this new series! Thank you for the quality content. You and Crystal have made eating sufficiently, "cool". Thanks so much!!!

I really wish the term "Intermittent Fasting" had never been coined. It implies that it's natural for humans to be shoving food in our fat faces all day, and that not eating from sunup to sundown is some kind of stressor. Neither is true.

Fasting is not a hype!!! People have been fasting for thousands of years. Not because you didn’t know about it means it was non existent!!!
