There is nothing wrong with using the term or making the distinction of "male nurse." In my opinion I think there is a proportion of adult men who do not have the basic temperament that would suit them in nursing, they simply aren't that interested in fulfilling the physiological needs of other people at a personality level. Maybe like 20% of men "could never see themselves" as performing those bedside care needs. So there's fewer men who would even find themselves interested in doing it, right off the bat. However, I am much like yourself, I never imagined until a few years ago that I could see myself in the job or even that I would like it or I would thrive in the role. This I think is just basic misunderstanding and ignorance. For me, being a male nurse is somewhat of a super power. You're kind of a unicorn. People assume things about you because you "feel so comfortable" in a female-dominated field, i.e. you probably don't have a macho ego, you must be more patient and compassionate than the average guy. At least that's been my experience. But above all, and I think what you do a great job with this channel, I think more males would be interested in nursing if they knew just how *VAST* of an industry it is. You really can work in more environments than you could ever imagine, the pay is good and above median income, extremely stable job market, and you are one of the "most trusted professions" in America.

Dope video. Im a Firefighter/Paramedic attempting to transition into nursing. I love the idea that being an RN can open up SO many doors within a different career. I personally dont think the health risks of being a FF are worth it anymore. The whole point of working is to retire and live long after it and I think nursing will provide that

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m a man, I have an MBA, almost got a second masters in Tech, but it finally hit me. Where can I get paid hourly, feel like an asset, and have a purpose? I finally realized I should have been doing this all along. I’m missing Anatomy and Physiology pre-reqs, and then I can start my core nursing classes. My aspiration is to grow within the nursing field, and possibly become a NP.

Keep at it bro, people who don’t get it just don’t get it, but it’s incredibly helpful to see a guy speak about his experiences in the field. It’s just more relatable

I am a male nurse. At every healthcare facility I have worked at in the past 30 years, the job description for male and female nurses is always identical ON PAPER. However, in reality it's different. I am usually the only male on the floor. If there is an aggressive or potentially violent patient on the floor, I will always be assigned to that patient. While the female nurses can always rely on me for help if they need it, what am I supposed to do if I need help? And don't say 'call security' because sometimes there is only one security person in the whole hospital, and they're usually tied up with people in the ED. In other words, I have to be 'security'.

How can the channel name trigger someone, I guess that's just the state of the US nowadays. lolol. Any who, I have never heard of a no hostage policy interesting(looked it up). Video topics: Prison Nurse horror stories, Prison nurse vs med surge etc. This is something I looked up recently and didn't find any videos on the topic. I am really enjoying the videos bro. Thank you so much. The last point in the video about job/financial security is exactly why I am into it. I had wanted to get into nursing since about 22, but it was never really the right time. Now at 31 it is about as perfect as it will ever be. The plan: 1 year LPN/LVN program once I pass the TEAS test, then work while doing pre-reqs for LPN to RN at local SFSC school, and lastly LPN to RN. I now live 5mins away from SFSC. Its now or never. haha. Wow man! It really feels like I am talking to the most supportive friend when I watch these videos. I really appreciate that bro!

Hey man, I'm a male thinking of becoming a nurse. I agree that the 100k alone is worth it, since we as men need to be providers. I just have a question for you, that I want to talk about. I'm hearing impaired. And I have trouble with noisy settings, as well as on phones (if they aren't captioned phones). I need some guidance and hope. Is it possible for me to be a nurse? Masks make it hard too. Thanks, .

Reality is reality. Only the West agonizes over these technicalities. Highlighting the difference is important so that we're prepared, because it'll stare is in the face every day of our journey anyway
