I started running track when I was a sophomore in high school (16yo). At that age I never thought I would one day become an Olympian! Fortunately, there were a few people at Bishop Kelly HS who believed in me. That's why I love to give back to the school whenever I'm home in Boise, Idaho. In this video I got a chance to race 800 meters against some of their fastest boys and girls!!

Thank you for watching this video. My favorite days are those that stimulate me physically and mentally. Athletics keeps my body fit, entrepreneurial business keeps my mind fit. Welcome to the life of the ATHLETEPRENEUR!

I didn’t look closely enough at the picture and I thought maybe you’d be running with your own team from high school... in other words a bunch of 36-year-old dads...

Hearing this man be more proud of his high school awards than his Olympic achievements is wholesome as shit

Tons of respect for letting others win, Nick. It's clear as day you could have competed much harder but you recognized the benefit it has on the young athletes to be able to run alongside you. Moments like these are remembered by the average individual for a lifetime.

“You don’t have to have fancy shoes, fancy track or even a fancy watch to become a world class runner." Loved that.

I was hoping you would wear the Bishop Kelly singlet that you wore in the USATF championships and nobody knew who you were😂

Hi Nick, I was a varsity runner until my sophomore year of high school but I quit after slipping at my xc qualifying race for WA State. Your videos have been inspiring me for the last few months to get back into top shape. If you ever stop by Seattle, I'd love to be a part of any video or run you may be doing. You are a huge inspiration to me and many others. Thank you

when nick doesn't know the name of the person in the lead I just assume that person will lose the lead and not get interviewed. I was wrong this time.

I love that Nick isn’t sexist. Sometimes you see that towards women in sports, not with Nick! #Goat 🐐

"50 boys 50 girls" barely anybody is motivated to doing XC in my school. Especially the girls, we had one. And 19 boys.

I applaud your demeanor. A happy person spreading that in 2020 is a welcome diversion. Thank you.

My best 800m, actually measured as a half mile, (age 39, second year of running) was 2:28, outdoor asphalt/concrete, mostly straight. I had to step down over one curb to the street in the final block and almost face planted, barely caught my weight, but I had no idea my knees could be that weak near the end. I never ran a 800m on the track except as a second or third race, so didn't break 2:30. I had enough experience to say 800m is the toughest distance since I hate running that hard and having nothing left at the end.
