Kid Stops Mid-Race And Still Comes Back To Win 800m At AAU Junior Olympics 2023

This 8-and-under athlete mistook the 600m mark for the 800m finish line and stopped mid-race, but still bounced back to win this chaotic 800m heat at the AAU Junior Olympics 2023.

I participated in the 400m in middle school. I was unfit and didn't know how long 400m was, but not enough people were signing up so I thought I'd fill the slot.
Race day, I started off fine then quickly fell behind after 10 seconds. As the other kids were passing the finish line, I was still on the other side of the track, half a lap behind. As I approached the line, everyone started cheered my name.
I may have lost the race by a huge margin, but I gained an unforgettable memory.
