JOHN 21:25
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one , I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written . Amen

Which is a real shame, as I imagine a lot of non Catholic Christians would get a lot of spiritual insight from Tobit and Sirach.

Jerome translated hebrew to Latin. Jerome even said the apocrypha which he also translated was not inspired only literature

Absolutely yes. There were from the time of the Apostles Christian Churches outside of the Roman system that had the Bible; and those scriptures had the same books that comprise the modern non catholic Bible. Many of the earliest church assemblies didn't have a complete Bible, because they were rare and costly items, but most had some parts of it, and they were often sent around, and copied, but there was general agreement as to which books were Biblical cannon, and which were not.

This is one of the reasons why the Roman church set up their own cannon of scripture, so as to bolster their own unbiblical beliefs and doctrines. They went out and used translations made from different (and disputed to this day) texts from Alexandria; the center of gnostic heresy, while the Churches outside of their control which followed closely the teachings of the Apostles had their Scriptures translated from the original language texts from Antioch, and Byzantine texts (Textus Receptus) which later became the original language texts used for the Geneva and King James Bibles.

The Roman Catholic Church accused apostolic churches of gnosticism, and other heresies, and used that as an excuse to track down, and kill them, and burn or destroy their Bibles, and that is also the primary reason why they forbade the Bible being possessed by anyone outside of the Catholic clergy.

For over 1500 years the church of Rome has lied about those who disagree with them. They have killed as many of them as they could for centuries, and it was only when the printing press and the Reformation came along to make it impossible to sustain their bloody persecution of true Christian believers that they have quit trying to use force and the burning stakes, and have turned to their other means of falsehoods, forgery, and subtle persuasion to achieve their objectives.

Before you accept their glib explanations and smooth arguments (they have had a long time to polish up their story), you should do some research into the groups that they have so strenuously attempted to exterminate and suppress for centuries: the Bogomils, Albigensians Waldenses and several others which are basically the same peoples under various names in different times and places that were persecuted and killed right up until the Reformation forced the RCC to turn their attention to other people. Find out who they were killing, burning, attempting to destroy before Luther came along, and you will know what happened to the Churches of Christ Jesus and the Apostles. It will take a bit of digging and research, because the Popes put as much effort into destroying the history and reports of those people as they did into killing them. They were NOT heretics, and they HAD the Bible in the same collection of books that are in the King James Bible.

Don't take my word for it, look into it yourself, they have not been able to erase them all.

What the Council of Trent did in 1546, which Protestants disagreed with, was remove the historical distinction between the status of the protocanonical and deuterocanonical works by anathema. In doing so, they unwisely disregarded the long-standing, widespread, and remarkably consistent traditions of fellow Christians, especially in the East, that various deuterocanonical works (often termed anagignoskomena or "worthy to be read" in Orthodox circles) are "secondary in rank" to the protocanon with an all or nothing approach almost entirely unique to Rome.

Why do the orthodox have more books than the Catholics?

The Catholic Church did not create the Bible… it was the Jewish scholars and scribes at the time. While the Catholic Church accepted these books, it was Martin Luther who rejected the extra books because they were not in the original Hebrew Bible.

The Dead Sea Scrolls found in the 1940s) do not include the extra books, therefore align with the original Hebrew Bible (that does not include the apocrypha).

The Jews did not see the apocryphal books as Scripture, so why should we?

I do find myself biting my tongue when I hear that from someone “changing the Bible” sometimes I will point it out to them. But if they say something about my Mother!…..

The Apocrypha couldn’t be verified as authentic or true. At first it was accepted, then tolerated & finally removed. There was no mention or cross reference to them in both old & New Testament.

This was a collaborative effort among the early Church, not just the Catholics.
