Did Jesus Found the Catholic Church?

There are literally hundreds of denominations of Christians out there, all claiming to teach on the authority of Christ. It's absolutely ridiculous. So how does the Catholic Church think that what it is doing is any different? Simple: Apostolic Succession.

This priest demonstrates that it's possible to educate without insulting or demeaning other faiths. Deo gratias...

As a non Catholic seeing him nerd out on succession was actually pretty cool. Like someone getting excited about filling in a family tree going back generations.

I'm sorry good brother, but in the spirit of truth, I must disagree with you. First you talked about Peter and the apostles giving you legitimacy. They were 300 years before the founding of the Catholic church. And Christianity has never been a monolithic religion where everyone agreed on doctrine. If you read Paul's letters, you'll see that even in 50 AD there were disperate groups arguing about doctrine and who is right.
The Catholic church holds its position solely through wealth and power. You were ordained by a pagan emperor, the Emperor Constantine in 325AD at the Council of Nicea. Even then the bishops couldn't agree on doctrine, which is why they invented the trinity. Note THEY invented it, NOT Jesus.
Through the middle ages you maintained your position through wealth, power and the sword, murdering anyone who disagreed with them or got in their way. Even as late as the 1600s, they burned people at the stake just for merely translating the Bible into English. Why? Because they wanted to control the Word, even at the expense of gaining new converts and "spreading the word."
In modern times, they only seek to maintain your authority and grip on power. They knowingly move criminal priests from unsuspecting parish to parish, allowing them to do their worst to innocent minors, then gaslighting the parents and authorities if they're ever caught. I'm sorry to hit you with these truth bombs, but you haven't really changed much since the Emperor Constantine started the Roman Catholic church, a continuation of his own pagan Roman empire. And Christians have never stopped arguing about what Jesus really meant, said, and when he's returning since 50 AD.
Oh... if only Jesus had just written down himself what he really meant and wanted. Instead we have vaguely worded parables and such, open to anyone's interpretation. That's why there are so many denominations. I truly don't mean to offend, but that criminal organization that you support is not worthy of such a genuinely nice, decent, and honest person as yourself.

My wife is an avid genealogist and has found that almost all of the genealogical records disappear around 1600 to 1500 too.

Both the oldest churches, the Orthodox Church, and the Catholic Church, believes in Marian devotion, praying to saints, real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, Apostolic succession(ik SOME Protestant denominations too believe in Apostolic succession), etc..
So it's just ridiculous to say that Catholic and Orthodox churches aren't Christian.
I hate it when so many people teach that these stuffs are unbiblical

As a protestant I love watching your videos. Catholicism always felt weird to me. I guess my feeling was always that the catholic church was lost in tradition to a point were scripture became secondary. Your videos really help me see how this perspective is not true and what importance the tradition itself holds. Personally I love the simplicity of protestantism. Here is the scripture, here is a church building. Just sitting in a big empty room with nothing but an altar, a cross and the word of God. However orthodox churches and catholic churches emit an ancient, golden (litterally, lol) warmth which I guess is kind of symbolic for them. I guess as a Protestant we sometimes forget the importance of tradition

So blessed to be found by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, words can’t describe it ! From Islam to Protestant to the one holy apostolic Catholic faith/Church. JMJ

I’m not a catholic, but I agree with everything that was said in this video. At the heart of the matter, our love for Christ unities us all, more than the issues that divide us. Perhaps these turbulent times will bring us all closer together.

This is a delight to watch, my main issue with the Catholic Church has always been the behaviour of catholics towards non-catholics. Calling them Heretics and Apostates etc. it is lovely to hear a RC priest speak with love and kindness about fellow Christians. We share so much more than that which decides us.

Thank you Father for giving me the answer I have always looked for. I am a catholic, the only one in my family, for the rest of the members of my family turned to another church, I remained constant in my belief of our catholic church and will remain till the day I die.

Totally surprised to hear Primitive Baptist mentioned. That’s the tradition I grew up in. Now I’m Catholic!

Thank you so much for this video. I was raised in the South as a Baptist, as was my wife. But neither one of us were ever really happy with the Baptist church, so we fell away. After getting married, moving around for my job many times, we found ourselves looking for church "home" after our son was born. We tried many churches.. Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian. We even looked at Episcopalian. I was always fascinated by the Catholic church, but always scared of the "mysticism" of it. I spent many years in research and searching for the right church. I was fortunate to have an uncle who was a history professor and taught classes on the history of religion (all religions) and their impact on civilization. He had also converted to the Catholic church many years before. I drilled him with questions for many years about the true history of many religions. I became more and more fascinated by it. It was by the grace of God that he advised me to read "Rome Sweet Home" by Scott Hahn. That book changed my life! That brought me much closer to the Catholic church, but it wasn't until my Uncle educated me on the exact verse you mentioned in this video about Jesus telling Peter that he was his rock and upon this rock he would build his church. To me, that was indisputable evidence that Jesus himself founded the Church. Not just the Catholic church, but all of Christianity. My search ended there as I came to the conclusion that if I were to be Christian, then there is no other choice, but the Church that Jesus himself founded and gave the power to Peter to govern. My wife and I, and our then teenage son, all went through Catechism training together and entered the Church as a family. We even came back as sponsors for a few years after that. So to me, this is the original "home" of Christianity and I would we settle for a "spin off" when the original is still around after 2000+ years!

Thank you again for your mission and for your wonderful videos. This one really hit home for me! May God Bless You.. in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
