Order MeganeX Superlight 8K:

Any of the reasons applies to you and your decision not to buy it? Or does something apply but you STILL want to buy it?

Actually I live in Japan and returning products has NEVER been a problem. Sounds to me they don't have the confidence to stand behind their product, which also makes me concerned about repairs. Pass

If it had inside out tracking and controllers I would buy it. I have that you need to buy base stations and controllers separately for another $700 ish

I wish it had eye and face tracking and a 3.5mm jack. The lack of eye tracking is leaving free FPS and resolution on the table.

I don't use headphones in VR as can't stand the headband on top of the HMD, I use airpods with an airfly dongle (impercetible latency), in ear bluetooth ear phones feel way more natural and nice in VR than any over the head earphones (even if they don't always sound quite as good as some headphones can)

Thanks for covering the bad with the good. I have a preorder and am very much looking forward to it. You mentioned the lack of integrated audio-I’m struggling to find something really good to use there. That might be a good topic for a dedicated video. For me, comfort and convenience are more important than raw audio quality, so I’m looking at things like wireless earbuds, but I hope to find the best option.

Not available for Australians to purchase.

You might have wanted to mention no head tracking built in, (as you previously said in another video, ) so you MUST BUY, if new, baystations and controllers, (Give or take $600 to $750) added to the price of $1899 USD dollar VR headset.

My issue is it's not inside out tracked, eye tracking should be standard like optix is doing with built in eye tracking and 115 FOV on the BOE panels, and it's wired.

This was a great take and balances out all the ensuthiasm from the earlier videos. Class act.

Lighthouses tracking is more accurate than inside-out. Only a couple of games take advantage of eye tracking. Controllers included would have been nice. Audio not included is awesome! I have a lot of bluetooth 5.4 buds that I can connect. I don't need or want another pair of headphones.

My only and unique reason why I won’t buy it is the missing outside inside tracking feature.

Thanks for the very honest and informative review... DCS is one of the main reasons why I would upgrade from Q3 and Eye tracking for a 4k VR is really a poor decision... the No return policy is a real bummer and it was wise of you to put it as no. 1 ;)

Glad to see how successful this launch had been! It has been a while since we have seen an evolution in PC VR. Hopefully with this success, they can create new premium models with wider FOV, eye tracking, inside out tracking with controllers, etc. This year should prove interesting for VR with other headsets rumored to come out later this year, like the Valve Deckard, and I believe the Samsung/Google headset.

Lol it's funny that alot of people on this video dislike that the Meganex needs basestations and on the pimax videos alot of people think the lighthouse tracking is a must have.

Great video, Im still waiting for Play for Dream and Pimax Super review. After that will decide which one will be the best for me. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for this! The retrun policy is a deal breaker. I had to return my Big Screen Beyond, despite the restocking fee.

No eye tracking is minus for me, although it is likely more improtant for high FOV headsets. Low FOV is potential, though not sure disqualifier, I would have to see for myself.
I plan to wait for Crystal Super 50 PPD and then compare MeganeX, Super and Somnium if I get some opportunity to test at some expo in Central Europe. Then the return policy would not be a problem.

While this appears to be a cool HMD I am curious about how well it will run with anything other than the upper tier GPUs (RTX 4090, RTX 5090). They state it works with much lower tier/older Nvdia units. I have to wonder, how good of an experience this will be? How much detail will have to be negated in order to have a good FPS experience? We all want the most resolution we can get with the highest frame rates to provide a more immersive experience. It would be really discouraging to spend thousands to purchase the VR unit, base stations, controllers and audio solutions only to discover that your GPU can not deliver the oomph it takes to make it a really great experience. For me personally, at his price point it really needs to be a GREAT experience and not an "it's an improvement" experience. Especially since the GPU market is currently under a Nvidia stranglehold from "lack of availability" and supply pricing. At the moment, 2-24-25, most of us can't simple just go out and purchase a new top tier GPU for anything near MSRP. If you have the ability and disposable income to pay scalper prices then I suppose this is a different story for you. In the "price is no object" demographic you just get what you want when you want it, kudos to you. I believe that most of us do not live in that world. So I suppose this really falls into the lack of a return policy issue. If it could be purchased and then returned if it does not function as desired then it might be worth taking chance on it. I can't do that. So for me it is a pass until enough data is out there for me to make a more informed decision or the availability of GPUs at MSRP is increased. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint on why NOT to get this. I am wishing I did not fall into his category... LOL maybe someday...
