I'm absolutely convinced he was closeted

I have seen this play out many times…to the point that I suspected an attraction but this is spot-on!

I remember the narc ex telling me a sob story about how a guy punched him in high school and how he’s still mad to this day he didn’t hit him back. A couple weeks after telling me that we were joking around and he suddenly got so mad and pushed me to the floor hard. Of course I was upset because of the physical abuse, but I couldn’t help but laugh that this big “strong” man couldn’t make himself fight back against another man yet he was so quick to put hands on a woman so much weaker and smaller than him. Narcs never want to “lose” so they only try to get people they know they can bully into submission and throw a tantrum if you question any of their actions. I wish I would’ve trusted myself to leave before he hurt me.

This makes sense ...
It's only their loss..
The further away they are from u, the better..

I have a narcissist neighbor that picks on women and children. Everybody was classy until he picked on me. I kept yelling "I'm not afraid of you!" at the top of my voice over and over getting more angry every time. He didn't know what to do with me so he called the cops on me. Remember he started picking on me first.

I completely see that in my ex. He has a very messed up relationship with his dad, almost codependent, adoring, but his dad whipped him with a belt, verbally abused him. He made a lot of close friends (whom he ultimately used for his own gain). That makes total sense that he would be seeking to reenact the relationship with his dad. Some of the guys were much older.

Narcissists are also utilitarian in the use of others and a lot of them have sex addiction. Truth be told sometimes it doesn't matter if the person is a man, woman, "object" so long as they provide what the Narcissist wants ( sense of power, control, money, place to stay increase in status ect..)
I think it will depend a lot more on how the society they live in preceives being gay or bi, as to wheather or not they will be so openly.

OMG... The same I saw with my relative and his friend. If we talk anything against their friend, they will be fighting to us all day

My ex valued his friend more than he did me. He would go out of his way to do things for him and couldn't handle it if anything negative was said about his friend.
Even on New year's Eve, he called his friend first then called me.

I was always the last in his list of priorities.he would go the extra mile for him but not for me.

Very deep. Makes sense. My ex narc called his best friend his partner

Finally...a true & accurate explanation.

This is a great explanation! And I don’t think they realize their true ‘need’ for this relationship in their life.

Thank you for exposing also this .... not sure he was totally and truly straight, but it makes sense. Strange relationships with his so called friends : a mix of hate, jealousy and threatening support in the name of the army.

OMG! Now I know why they are so close.

Sometimes it can become more. Like deep enough for them to date a transsexual woman/man or vice versa.
