Meanwhile dealers here in US are still marking up their vehicles above MSRP(retail price), playing customers like there's a shortage

If they hadn't all jacked up the prices so much over the last 3 years, they wouldn't have this problem.

I see a number of reviews of individual car manufacturers. You seem to be the one who gives a global perspective of the Eevee and traditional manufacturers. You provide interesting, valuable and thoughtful analysis.

The path downward isn't quite what it seems just as the path upwards isn't. The first thing that happens is that 3rd shifts of a factory are reduced to two which cuts the output nearly 1/3 but not quite since a maintenance shift is in there somewhere. There is some overhead of keeping the plant lighted and heated/cooled over the eliminated third shift but not that much. Since the equipment is usually already paid for but not fully depreciated, it will take longer to actually use the equipment until it needs replacing but it also has slightly less maintenance due to lower duty cycles. So like BYD, you'll see an elimination of overtime to reduce union problems and a reduction in temporary workers (which often isn't noticed) if the bloat in the inventory persists. So factories aren't closed until they get below a level where they aren't cost effective any more in covering their fixed costs. To get to a factory closure, things have to get pretty dire. It's coming in the ICE world and there will be clues but it will look catastrophic when it does occur.

You are my hero, man. On a daily basis, you keep churning out video after video like there's no tomorrow. I honestly admire your work ethics, and even more impressive given your current family situation. I love your positivity, that you always welcome your viewers with your best smile, and you keep doing what you do with enthusiasm and unbreakable faith. You might be running on fumes, but whatever you got, you give it. God bless you.

Just drove home in an Austin-made Model Y (castings, 4680) after decades driving Acura RDXs. Tired of waiting for a Honda EV, no regrets

They can sell them in Australia.
Australia doesn't have much in the way of emissions requirements.

Interesting, we are a small Toyota dealership in Sweden, we alone have at least 1000 cars in order, and there are still over a year waiting time for many models.
There is no sign (yet) that Toyota having problem selling cars or have any unsold stock in harbours.
And on top of that almost no cars availible for us on short notice.

Legacy OEMs will sell all their inventory cars just before the date at which they can't be sold anymore.
Then they'll turn up in the inventory again, but now as used cars... They can still sell used cars that don't meet the emission standards for new cars anymore.

Ever heard of a Slickdeals effect? Reduce the price and the demand shoots up to the roof. It goes straight to the "front page"! Simple economics.

Good video, but ffs pronounce inventory with an o in Not Inventry.

Biggest problem is the electricity grid and electric power plants can't meet the rising demand to charge EVs. There will be a HUGE shift from oil energy to electric energy. This will keep EVs from rapid domination of the market. Massive infrastructure change needs to done. It's going to take a long time.

Automakers will go the government and cry about how unfair life is. They will get an extension to the deadline and sell the smog generators. As said in the video they do not take EVs seriously.

When do Euro 7 rules come into force?

From CarWow... "From 1 July 2025, all new mass-produced cars will have to meet Euro 7 standards. Small volume manufacturers (those that built fewer than 10, 000 cars a year) will have to meet the standards by 2030." So it's 2025, not 2023

@Viking you are once again wrong on the debt of the OEMs. They are mostly coming from the OEM financing departments..

Euro 7 will apply in EU and UK from 01 July 2025. Its a familiar process and cars will be sold in good time despite any complaints by VMs
