Electric bus bursts into flames, sets nearby vehicles on fire in China

An electric bus burst into flames, engulfing three vehicles next to it on a university campus in southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. No one was hurt in the incident as firefighters quickly put out the fire within 20 minutes.

I've never really thought about how much faster an electronic fire spreads compared to gasoline engines, if that happened while we're on a full bus, I honestly think all of us would be dead.

Hate to think that this happened during operation. The passengers would not have enough time to exit safely as it happened so fast. Within seconds after the smoke, it exploded.

As a retired fire officer I know the current statistics in electric vehicle fires and there is absolutely no way I or any of my family will travel in any vehicle powered by ni-mh or li-po batteries. My only concession is my ebike and even then the battery remains outside my house. Battery safety technology is going to have to drastically improve before I would even consider it.

De lijn (govt bus company in Belgium) just ordered 92 of those buses. When customers pointed this incident out to them they replied "This won't happen here. Export vehicles are better quality." 😂😂😂😂
