Tipping should be a way a customer can reward good service. It should not be a prepaid condition of receiving service. Prepayment isn’t a tip. It’s an additional charge.

A customer can also not use your service. A business must pay their employees.

I moved abroad several years ago, when you leave a tip in a foreign country it is truly appreciated because they are already paid a livable wage, in the US not so much.

As someone who’s worked in the bar industry for 4 years now I can say first hand that tips are never a guarantee.
