Melanoma Skin Cancer Development Time Lapse (Normal to Stage 4 Melanoma Over 10 Years)

preview_player
Показать описание
Using generative AI, this time lapse sequence shows how melanoma skin cancer develops over 10 years. Starting with normal skin, slow progression to stage 4 melanoma is shown.

Obviously, such a time lapse can not be realistically accomplished as there is no way to know if any given area of skin will turn into cancer. Obviously, somebody with such future knowledge would have to start taking such photos now in the same spot over next 10 years to watch it slowly turn into cancer.

People tend to forget that people with darker skin tones will get this but easily mistake it for uneven skin tone

Thats a great simulation. I would have had no idea what melanoma looks like in early stages. Thanks!

People also need to understand that melanoma doesn't always appear as a mole, mine was on my toenail originally (subungual melanoma from the group "acral lentigious"), amputated 7 Yr ago then 3 yr ago my melanoma spread to my ankle as "amelonotic melanoma". Staged at 3b

Now I have it growing throughout the muscles and skin in my leg, growing faster then ever
Ankle, calf, huge one in back of knee, back of thigh and recently found one in my butt cheek.

Been through immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) with no luck and currently awaiting an "isolated limb infusion".

Never have I been more worried about stage 4 hitting me.

Amelanotic melanoma is normally a skin coloured raised lump but under magnifying lens you will see tiny red broken squiggly blood vessels.

Subungual melanoma affects the nails - usually a vertical brown stripe from the start of the nail to the tip which gets larger over time then destroys the toe.
Can be caused by trauma, mine was playing football (UK) with ingrown toenail.

Acral lentigious is melanoma that affects the hands and feet.

Update 25/07/2024.
Bad news.
Ct scan came back, found 2 lesions on my brain, Im now at stage 4 and waiting on treatment in a month, unsure of the treatment yet.

My husband cought this in barley just enough time before it took his life. It was itching him a lot and finally after me and his mom begging him to check it out he got that phone call saying he needed surgery immediately. Thank God he did and he has been clear ever since. We changed our health and at that time he was working with material that was very hazardous and I totally feel it was caused by that exposure. Check your body, listen to your fam/friends when they say something and be safe out there people

The rate at which it grows towards the end is scary…

I work in telederm and all I can say is please please have your doctor look at anything on your skin that’s not supposed to be there or any moles that are changing. Especially a non healing scab or lesion. I see skin cancer and a lot of melanoma every day. Dont wait!

Thank you! I had a lesion removed and that’s exactly how it progressed before it got black but it definitely browned and started as a slightly darker freckle which kept growing. Thanks to summer and social media posts I could see it was getting larger and darker over the years which pushed me to get it looked at. The itching and raising happened quick. The nhs were slow to act and didn’t perform a biopsy, they went straight in for a large oval shaped incision ( I forget the correct name)

They said the results from the tissue came back benign but I know for a fact that a plastic surgeon wouldn’t have performed that procedure unless it really needed to go and fast. I found another on my breast so I’ll be doing that all over again. It runs in the family so it’s a worry. Always haul ass for any mole like that, better safe than sorry.

Weird it took all that time?
I had one. Took only about 2 years and was almost too late for me. But I was luck to have a great doctor who saved my life.

Dang, relatively stable for 7 years, then 8-10 it grew sort of like a wildfire.
