Skin Cancer Time Lapse (Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Melanoma)

Показать описание
Using generative AI, this time lapse sequence shows how 3 different types of skin cancer develop over 10-25 years. Starting with normal skin, sun damage eventually leads to malignant change ultimately resulting in the development of skin cancer.

Obviously, such a time lapse can not be realistically accomplished as there is no way to know if any given area of skin will turn into cancer. Obviously, somebody with such future knowledge would have to start taking such photos now in the same spot over next 25 years to watch it slowly turn into cancer.

The number of years it takes for each type of skin cancer to develop is fascinating. Thank you.

Thanks so much for this video! I’m very pale and had massive sunburns throughout my childhood. I’ve been keeping an eye out for skin cancer for the past twenty years now but after watching this video, I’m going to make a dermatologist appointment ASAP. I’ve got several of those dry, irritated, and scratchy looking spots on my back and shoulders. I just assumed it was from not exfoliating enough and not moisturizing enough. But I don’t know anymore…

Wow, very beautiful and clearly shown video. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words. This video does it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I had Nodular BCC on the bridge of my nose. It looked nothing like your photos of BCC and more like your SCC photos. Yet a biopsy confirmed it to be Nodular BCC. I had Mohs surgery and a flap for reconstruction. It took 30 outer stitches to close the wound. I feel very fortunate to still have a nose. Any spot that does not go away is suspicious. Mine flaked repeatedly and bled easily. Consider a tree trunk. What you see is a stump. But beneath the ground, roots spread out in all directions. That's skin cancer.

I have a ton of freckles. A couple looked odd, so I scheduled a full body exam.

The freckles i thought were bad are fine, but 3 of them (that i wasn't even worried about) have to be biopsied next month.

One is on my hand, and i thought it was just older skin discoloration, one on my cheek, that's been there since 2018 (i thought it was an age spot)

If you have a lot of freckles, be on the safe side and go get checked once a year.

Also, my saving grace here is that ive been wearing SPF 50 for the past 40 years. It could be a lot worse right now.

I'm pretty sure I have the 3rd one. Time to see the dermatologist. Damn it.

How did you make this video? How did you know the cancer will develop in these locations? Or at all?

Squamus Cell was very fast. It started as a pink round flat spot and within a month it developed a high dome, like a rubber ball with a hole in the center.

Why do dermatologists run their hands over skin looking for rough spots? My BCC was smooth feeling. Not rough at all.

There’s nothing on year 1 so how would you be able to catch it early? By year 6 it’s pretty much a death sentence and that’s still barely visible…
