With some of the updates we have got around node changes coming in 1.0 we can speculate where the best starting location may be. This is the best location to start in my opinion.

Concerning quartz early for blade runners. It’s actually super easy and fast; you can get all the silica you need just by taking a chainsaw to those coral-like structures in the NW part of rocky desert, and you only need 30 raw quartz, which you may happen upon by chance with the random deposit chunks you can find or you can make a dash (Well, Swim) through the northern cave entrance to get to the deposit and quickly manually mine what you need.

That western normal node area has been my plan. Its the only part of the map i haven't started at yet. Also, considering the changes to drones, it's actually viable to use them as your sole inter-base transportation system, so I'm also going to look into that and completely forego trains. Who knows if it's feasible, but it sounds interesting, especially since the cloud eliminates the need for transport back to your main base.

titan forest over looking the swamp most likely where the 3 quartz nodes were switched to iron . or maybe the abyssal cliffs, as i have a suspicions those new 4 iron nodes are not all impure

You can build/clip a tower through the dirt/ground above the quartz cave. For easier access 🎉

I would say that same spot is still the best starting location. I won't be starting there though and will be in the Rocky Desert instead as i have played that area a lot. But coal is still nearby there without the one extra node being there and the only thing that sucks is they removed the 2 quartz nodes. Everything else is the same amazing pure nodes and still has everything close by.

Starting in the Rocky Desert sucks even worse for the quartz as it is underground in a cave that is not easily reachable as one entrance is blocked until you blow it up and the other is the opposite end and both are quiet a distance away, but the area has more building space overall without building a floor of foundations over a canyon like the previous location. It also has easy access to a lot of things except the quartz.

And... after watching the rest of your video, you came to the same conclusion for the most part. :P

I just dislike the cosmetics of the rocky desert, so for me it will still be northern forrest. There is quartz being added to the valley so i might do a mega lift for it, and caterium is also nearby even with the nerf.

For me its the lake with 4 coal nodes north of the giant forest. All ressources except uranium are close by. The only down side is getting to the copper nodes. There is a lot of ennemies. I build the base around me to getto the nodes.

It is better to start close to those pure nodes in this region, you got pure coal close, and you can get quartz via tunel from south, there are also water gazers there, so you can change quarzt to crystal with pure crystal receipe and there is also less spiders. The lake gives enouth water on start, sulful you can take from east close to your coal plants, and you are also closer to that caterium ore.
