While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me: and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled... what about this

One of the biggest problems dividing the church today is the false dichotomy being created between the requirement for man to believe for salvation on the one hand, and God's choice in salvation on the other - there are many teachers who would say that the Bible teaches an either/or approach to salvation where the one camp emphatically states that "we must believe to be saved" while ignoring God's sovereignty over salvation, while the other camp states "God chooses who will be saved" while ignoring the requirement for man to believe. What people in both of these camps need to realize is that the Bible does not present an "either/or" proposition between these two ideas. The truth is a "both/and" scenario: We must believe in order to be saved, and it is God who chooses who will be saved and grants him the ability to believe; if you are willing (Isaiah 1:19), it is only because God has made you willing (John 6:44, Acts 13:48).

Great video! Loved it. Now I guess I'll have to buy the book. Thank you Vocab for breaking out a classic from the Vocab vaults for us. Keeping doing your thing bro and spreading the Gospel to all that will hear.

Getting into 2 Peter 3.9 begins @ 30:07 and the John 3.16 discussion begins @ 20:05 (prior to that is the story of his personal journey and overall theological issues)

Few, very few, today, really believe in the complete ruin and total depravity of man. Those who deal of mans “free will” and insist upon his inherent power to either accept or reject the savior, do but voice their ignorance of the real condition of Adams fallen children. And if there are few who believe that, so far as he is concerned, the condition of the sinner is entirely hopeless, there are fewer still who really believe in the absolute sovereignty of God

I've got an objection: why were Christians not Calvinists until Jehan Cauvin in the 1500s? This hints at Cauvin's theology being a novelty, i.e., not the Faith once delivered to the saints.

What word should Jesus have used instead of "world" if he really meant God loved the world in John 3:16? And I don't think your guest did a very thorough study of Jacob and Esau if he takes the translation of "hated" to mean God did not love Esau. When Jesus tells us in Luke 14:26 we must hate our family to be his disciples, he means prefer Jesus in relation to them. We are to love them, but they cannot come between us and Jesus. God chose Jacob to be the carrier of the promise which he promised to Abraham to be a blessing to the nations. It does not mean that Esau was predestined to hell, and Jacob to heaven. I do understand that the guest had a strong reason to believe in Calvinism once he heard his dad believed it, but perhaps he could have gone over the scriptures without a calvinistic filter.

As always I hear the "Reformed" or "Calvinists" as saying the same thing as other "Reformers" but with different words. Of course we're all saved by believe, of course believe makes us the Elect or Saved, of course how are you able to believe is not addressed in scripture because we are all Image Bearers and can know God. I just think two different ways of saying the same thing are at use here. God created us as Image Bearers and God created language. I believe the way we train ourselves to think is the difference here. It's definitely Not the Translations of a language God invented being translated into another God invented language that's the problem here.

Sorry bro but Calvinism makes God a monster . The foundation of God is Love. A God of love doesn't choose some for hell and some for heaven. Love requires freewill

I never understood the confusion....

Are people reading the “HOLY” Bible or the All inclusive Universal Bible?...It can’t be both:

The Bible’s whole existence is bias, hierarchical, and full of predetermined outcomes.

Romans 8:29
“For whom he did FOREKNOW👈🏽, he also did PREDESTINATE👈🏽 to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the "FIRST BORN" among many brethren.”

30. Moreover whom he did predestinate, THEM👈🏽 he also called: and whom he called, THEM he also justified: and whom he justified, THEM he also glorified.

Paul, Timothy, James and the others were always and explicitly addressing preaching the gospel toward the ELECT.

2 Timothy
Who hath saved... "US"...and called “US” with an HOLY👈🏽...calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN, 👈🏽

2 Timothy 2:10
Therefore I endure all things FOR THE ELECT's Sakes that 👉🏽THEY👈🏽 may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.”

(Also meaning in addition to himself)

ONLY Israelites are biblically and explicitly named as the ELECT👈🏽

Isaiah 45:4
For JACOB MY..."SERVANT's"... sake, and👉🏽 "ISRAEL" mine ELECT👈🏽, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

Calvinism seems a lot like cultish beliefs-like jehovah's witness's. And yes I agree with one of the responses that mentioned how divisive and arrogant calvinist's tend to be. In the calvinist's view, only certain 'special' people are picked by God, they believe God caused and designed the holocaust. And with tough questions calvinist, they ALWAYS say "Oh, you aren't understanding what we are explaining". I prefer the views articulated by William L Craig or Leighton Flowers.

My objection is this, why do Reformed theologians deprecate baptism's theological connections to salvation then say it's still important?

I went to the scriptures and like so many others found calvinism to be very lacking and purely evil.

Oh no! Not Calvinism....I was loving your channel until now...

Calvinists are arguably the most divisive sub-community among Christians. It's the moral equivalent to determinism, which aligns closely with Sam Harris' atheistic worldview, but with God being accepted instead of denied.

Calvinism is repulsive when eternal damnation is tossed into it, yet, it has scripture backing of God "working all things to the glory and counsel of His will".

If anyone is serious about insight into God and His nature, heaven, hell, spiritual warfare then you need to start listening to Bryan Melvin. Search his name on Ytube. If you're not interested then stay with the empty academic exercises fooling yourselves into thinking Jean Cauvin's philosophical system accurately represents the nature of God.
