I thought it was interesting that they mention the onboarding process at some companies being poorly handled. That just happened to me this week. The HR lady was very discourteous and rude to me because I had a misunderstanding with the paperwork. She even shouted at me at one point. When she left the room I scrapped the whole deal and walked out. The shame of it all is that I had 30 years of experience in my field that I was bringing to their company, and they had to treat me like a big schmuck. Their loss.

So, much of the online info about careers is fuzzy, feel good, "how to make a good impression" stuff that relies effectively on sales techniques. Nothing wrong with that. But this is not that.
