PS3 Games Showing Up On PS5 With Prices, Another Backwards Compatibility False Alarm: Here's Why.

Yesterday there was a bit of confusion going around after it was publicized that there are PS3 games appearing on PS5 with separate prices. And some of these games at a quick glance aren't currently available on PS Now. Take that with the recent patent update, PS Now pre-paid card removals, and the Spartacus rumor, and now you have a bunch of lining up in a hilariously bad fashion. Let's go over this visual bug that's plagued PS4/PS5, and also clear up backwards compatibility YET again. (Honestly this was a good way for me to postpone a video that still isn't done yet. So thanks convenient PlayStation news!).

Whether it's there at launch or not, backwards compatibility with all Playstation consoles definitely needs to be one of the ultimate goals of this new service. Otherwise there's no point in even launching a Gamepass competitor in the first place.

Sony really needs to clarify/confirm what their intentions are with backwards compatibility. Just tell us that they're working on compatibility for older systems and how we can access them. Is it exclusive to the subscription service? Will they support physical media? It's just a lot of confusion even when they were talking about PS4 games because they were not clear.

I just hope that if one day PS3 backwards compatibility comes to PS5 (and maybe PS2 and PS1 backwards compatibility too) that it will be like Xbox did.

I always thought it was insane that you can insert an original Xbox game and it will work perfectly on your Xbox Series X and even with improvements, it would be amazing to be able to insert PS1, PS2 and PS3 discs into the PS5 and it will work without problems.

This is one of the few reasons that make me prefer Xbox Series X over Playstation 5, it's amazing that I can play some seventh generation games that were never re-released like Sonic Unleashed with improvements like 60fps on the new console, use the cloud streaming from PS Now just isn't the same.

I hope Sony is at least watching the hype for PS3 back compatibility and reacting to it with actual development. My 60GB PS3 sounds like it's launching into space even when playing a PS2 game.

My take on this is: since they've figured out backwards compatibility, any ps first party game will be available with the new service, while any third party old game not native to ps4 will be offered at a price. Which is more than fair and takes full use of the technology. Just like any pc would be able to play older games.

Great video, I had a feeling something wasn’t right seeing these prices for PS3 games randomly appearing across PS4 and PS5.

I do think this little mishap really highlights peoples excitement to want to play PS3 games locally rather than streaming or tied to using a PS3 console. Can’t wait to see what the future holds.

I hope this can happen and we can get PS3 classics and iconic games, that will definitely be great news even for new gamers who don't understand why we are keen about that and whom I expect to get excited to at least try experiensing such games but I can't believe it as sony persistedly proved that they are pure rubbish handling such demands.

I'd buy PS1, 2 & 3 games digitally again if i could. I just hope the option is there for this instead of compiling them all into a monthly service. Prefer to own them physically or digitally, either or to be honest.

Since the SSD update we are able to add ps3 games on our store wishlist this was definitely not possible before
Psnow and the store have independent wishlists
This cant be a bug

Also remember when Ubisofts CEO Yves guillemot said something like these next gen consoles can play almost all of the back catalog and this was after we knew ps5 would be backwardscompatible to ps4

If something is too coincidential then its not a coincidence
