To this day, I still have the red Super Slim 500Gb. Mine was a special edition. It still runs fine.

Man I miss the OG design. It felt so next gen and the lettering reminded me of Spider man. First time I saw the E3 trailer to killzone and resistance, I got goosebumps. Good times…

I have one of the first PS3s ever sold in the US. My friend's dad worked for Sony for a long time and had access to buy it before it had been released to the public and when my house burned down about 7 years ago when I was 14 or so and he was 16 he gave me his PS3 to help me escape from the situation I guess you could say. He also gave me about 7 games or so since he had every PS3 system. I still play it occasionally to this day even though you gotta smack the top of it a bit to get the game out. I still see that man when he comes to town and we get dinner or play the PS3 together and catch up.

The first gen of the PS3 will always be memorable as it was special in its own unique way. I still have mine but with the compatible PS2 unit removed but with added CFW to play them, a later model. 60gigs. The first ones were just gems. I now have a slim to go along with it.

Once the console market became heavily greedy about backwards compatibility I switched to PC and didn't look back. Best decision I ever made.

I had the super slim version. Very convenient disc changing. And you don’t have to worry about it getting stuck like in a ps2 I had.
