Hello my friends! In todays video I wanted to share with you how I cured my night terrors as an adult. I did some EMDR and other therapy that helped heal some past trauma. This therapy has helped me sleep better and decrease my anxiety.

The scariest thing about a night terror isn’t even the sheer panic that washes over you, it’s that it happens for no explainable and/or apparent reason. I would wake up in the middle of a screaming fit and my confusion would scare me even more.

Such wonderful news!
As I was watching your description of your night terrors my 6yo son who was sitting next to me leaned over and said, "That's what happens to me." 🥺 That certainly explains why he doesn't like to go to sleep unless his daddy is snuggling him. 😔

In other news, I have heard such good things about EMDR. I am hoping to get to start seeing a new therapist soon and do EMDR to help heal some past trauma also.

And I feel you on the rest. 💕 I have a friend who tried this treatment and I’m considering it. This helped.

Thank you so much for this. I can relate to a lot of what you’ve described and realize I need to go through the practices of therapy and healthier mental health exercises. Sincerely, thank you for making this video.

Hey Aimee, I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago, and I just love the way you talk about your chronic health issues. You are so joyful despite going through suffering, and I think that is beautiful. I have dysautonomia, gastroparesis, SIBO, GERD, and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The EDS is the reason I’m commenting, because I’m just noticing that you have so many comorbidities for EDS, so I was just curious whether you’d looked into it? I just found out about mine really recently, and it is the uniting factor behind my constellation of symptoms. Anyway, I just thought I’d throw it out there in case you haven’t looked into it, but I bet you probably have. Anyway thanks for the joy you bring to the chronic illness community, it is SO refreshing.

Can you link the person who helped? I am 58 and mine are getting worse. I had two last night. I never heard or knew anyone else having them, except my brother.

One of my sons used to suffer night terrors, Although I found out it wasn't a night terror, It was real. His bed had been given us from a friend of the family, It was a old steel frame spring bed with a mattress. Nothing unusual there, But the Bed had had a old man die in it. We wernt told that before. Any way, the way I found out, My son was in my bed with the Missus as he was poorly. I slept in his bed. I woke up at exactly the same time he used to. What woke me was the feeling of the bed sinking as something heavy sat down on the bed causing compression of the sprung bed. I tell you, It scared the hell out of me, Next day that bed was thrown away down the rubbish tip. We sorted a new bed for my lad and he never had another terror again.

I am 54 and have had night terrors since my teens. I had not had one for about 4 years and suddenly last weekend I had one. I figured out that I had gotten overly tired. My cat has been waking me up at night.

This is really interesting!! Organizing and reducing clutter had a profound effect. Who would have guessed? I heard that the anxiety and horror of factory farm animals can also be transferred to humans that eat them (due to absorption of stress hormones) and so a cruelty-free diet can help. Those with "leaky gut" may absorb more of the hormones. What do you think?

Great. So what do you recommend as a course of action to a single man living with new flat mates? My night terrors can be destructive and unpredictable. Any tips on how I might explain this to a potential partner without scaring them off?

I am 21 and living in really bad circumstances and cant escape my trauma for a long time because I live with it. Any things I can do that does not require money (my country doesnt help me with therapy)

I accidentally cured my nightmares and night terrors that had tormented me for 63 miserable years.
I was simply going to try "mouth-taping" to help with my dry throat.. reducing how much water I had to sip throughout the night.
I haven't had a nightmare since I have trained myself to use the tape.
Thank you #JamesNestor and
#PatrickMcKeown.. you two have saved my life.
