Just in case anyone was actually wondering. Texas actually did start as it's own country. Then joined the United States. That is why the Texas flag can fly at the same height as the United States flag. So, just saying.

California and Texas are basically countries within countries. The U.S would lose a lot of status if these 2 separated.
