Of all the great powers to establish colonial empires, the early states of the German Confederation likely don't come to mind. There was in fact a brief though unfortunate attempt by the "Society For The Protection Of German Immigrants In Texas" also known as the Mainzer Adelsverein to establish a colonial foothold in the New World, and of all places, this colony was to be built out of the then independent Texan Republic. So today we ask what if Germany colonized Texas?
