I'm having an identity crisis!

You always hear about family caregivers, especially those caring for their aging parents, say that they feel they’ve lost their identity to caregiving. And even when caregiving ends, then there’s a feeling of “now what? Who am I now?” I’m struggling with this now. Please help me figure this one out!

First, I am so sorry for your father’s passing. You are clearly grieving (and rightly so), so don’t apologize or feel guilty! Secondly, you should definitely introduce yourself as a former caregiver for your father for ___ years, and continue to support fellow caregivers now. Please know that this is true, because your videos have been a great resource, support and comfort for me! God Bless!

Any help with caregiving is a blessing. All of us will lose the one we are caring for. Any help or advice is always welcomed. Sometimes just to know someone else is having same struggles.

Miss Sofia, I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through. This really resonated with me as you’ve helped me with so much, and my Mother in Law passed away right before Christmas. I felt the same way. What do I do now? What is my purpose? Who am I? 🥺 I still wake up occasionally and run in to “check on Mom.” You’re Still a Caregiver dear. You always will be. The wisdom and knowledge you’ve gained will continue to help people! Keep sharing your thoughts and experiences. Miss Sofia, I can’t thank you enough. You made such a difference in my life and gave me so many useful tips. I’m sincere when I say you helped me through some of the hardest and best days of my life. Many people will continue to be blessed by you! You’ll always be a caregiver dear, you’ll just receive new patients. I’m praying for you, and forever grateful for you!! ♥️

I’m so sorry for your loss!! Your experience is so valuable to share with those of us still going through it. Please keep sharing your insight! If it’s not out of order for you, perhaps someday you could share how you dealt with handling final expenses, arrangements, how to deal with family during that time when emotions are high and there may be disagreement on what to do.

I’m sorry for your loss.
Thank you for all your videos and advice. I recently lost my dad and have become my mothers full time care giver. Your videos have made me feel like I’m not alone .
Why not add the word “experienced” family care giver? You definitely are.
All the best with whatever you decide to go with. You great advice remains great no matter what. 🌸
