2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

1 Timothy 2:3-6 (KJV) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Ezekiel 18:23 (KJV) Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

Passages such as Romans 8:29โ€“30 and Ephesians 1:5โ€“11 explicitly teach that God predestines some to salvation. God predestining who will be saved is based on His sovereignty, unchanging character (Malachi 3:6), foreknowledge (Romans 8:29, 11:2), love (Ephesians 1:4-5), and plan and pleasure (Ephesians 1:5). Godโ€™s desire is that all would be saved and come to repentance (1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9). He offers salvation to everyone (Titus 2:11), yet we know that not everyone will be saved. How this all works together can be debated, but predestination itself is absolutely a biblical teaching. Numerous other New Testament passages also refer to believersโ€™ being chosen or elected to salvation (Matthew 24:22, 31; Mark 13:20, 27; Romans 8:33; 9:11; 11:5โ€“7, 28; Ephesians 1:11; Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; 1 Timothy 5:21; 2 Timothy 2:10; Titus 1:1; 1 Peter 1:1โ€“2; 2:9; 2 Peter 1:10).

God has that beautifully divine ability to love the sinner but hate the sin. So much that He sacrificed His Son Jesus Christ that "any, all, whoever and the world" (as written) may be able to be saved by grace through faith in Him and have eternal life.
That is His sovereign will. To make the way of salvation and to allow us to choose Him in return or reject Him to our own demise. There can be no greater demonstration of love and gift of freedom than that.

A great setup, but this edit lacks a final argument that I wish would have been made by Frank. I don't know what Franks argument was because I didn't see the whole debate.

I was on a plane going on holiday to the Mediterranean Christian Island of Malta in 2019. On my way there something just told me for days read the Book of Romans on the plane. So on the way there I read half of it, and on the way back I read the other half. I totally agree, it's a theological explanation of Christianity. You need to read it a few times, and to study it to fully understand it in a comprehensive way.

What about Romans 8 where he said, those whom he predestined, he called, those whom he calls, he justifies etc.

Notice how you didnโ€™t actually engage with and answer the text. You can give the โ€œgeneral overviewโ€ and still completely miss crucial elements.

You stopped short and did not continue to explain the issue, "As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated."

I was getting quite excited with Frank's quick overview of the book of Romans when the vid ended abruptly.
With regard to Romans 9 to 11 let me bring your attention to John Murray's introduction to his excellent commentary of the book of Romans volume 2.
As Frank says, the apostle Paul could have gone straight from chapter 8 to chapter 12.
Murray answers these questions in an excellent and professional manner.
I will limit my contribution to just a few lines.
In chapter 9, Paul addresses the UNBELIEF of the Jews. They are not innocent men, even though they claim that they are God's people.
Page 32 of Murray's volume 2 of his book to the Romans, 9:21 Murray writes that God is not dealing with men as men, but men as sinners.

I think we need to keep this in perspective when we talk about whether God is right or wrong in his judgement of all people.
This is the correct Calvinist view.

How many times in the book of psalms does it say that God hates the wicked. It does not say he hates only wickedness, but the wicked, actual people. Just sayin'

Frank avoids the initial question altogether. Leighton hits it on the head @1:10 and takes Frank to the mat for a tap out. Predestination/Election is Biblical
no matter what any of us think. See Romans 8:29- KJV.

Itโ€™s a reference to Genesis 25.
Jacob and Esau represent nations in Rebekahโ€™s womb. God elected one nation to SERVE the other. Not to arbitrarily save one twin and damn the other. Love and hate sometimes mean to โ€œpreferโ€ in scripture or to chose one over the other.

Soteriology 101 & Beyond the Fundamentals are two channels ran by former calvinists who now debunk the false teaching by walking through the misunderstood passages.

I completely agree with Frank that the Book of Romans is a comprehensive theological treatise that provides a thorough understanding of Christianity. However, the way he's approaching Romans 9-11 is misguided. These chapters are not just a three-chapter detour, but an integral part of the book that is crucial for understanding the theological message of Romans.

In Romans 9, Paul provides a clear teaching on God's sovereignty and predestination, which is central to the Calvinist theology. It is essential to understand that God's sovereign choice is the basis of salvation, and not our own works or decisions. Romans 9:16 makes this clear when it says, "So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy." This verse highlights the fact that salvation is not based on our own efforts or choices but on God's mercy.

Furthermore, Romans 9-11 is significant because it addresses the relationship between the Jews and the Gentiles in God's plan of salvation. Paul shows how God's plan includes both Jews and Gentiles, and how the rejection of the Jews led to the inclusion of the Gentiles. This theme is crucial to understanding the nature of salvation and the purpose of the Church.

So, we cannot overlook Romans 9-11 by focusing only on certain verses or chapters. Instead, we must read the book as a whole and understand the significance of each part in the context of the entire message of Romans.

Frank, like Dr. Flowers, I love your ministry. I listen often. Question? Why not call out Allen Parr for his stance? His million followers are great, but pushing his book and agenda on your show was confusing to me. He said, on your show..."God created us all to be sinners" 34m36s. He is a self professed calvinist, should he not be debated and made to explain his views???
