Roger Penrose: String Theory Is Wrong and Dark Matter Doesn't Exist

British mathematician and philosopher Sir Roger Penrose, along with American theoretical physicist Michio Kaku, are significant figures in the scientific community. Penrose is renowned for his studies on Black Holes, while Kaku is well-known for his String Theory.

Interestingly, Sir Roger Penrose strongly opposes Michio Kaku's string theory. Dark matter plays a crucial role in explaining certain phenomena in the universe; however, Penrose suggests that dark matter might not actually exist. So, why does Penrose reject Michio Kaku's string theory? And why does he assert the nonexistence of Dark Matter?

The music is painful and irrelevant to the topic. I think you should remove it or replace it.

The background music is really irritating.

What's with the irritating background noise, which isn't really in the background 😮

I like the music, but it doesn't work in this edit.

RP is a sound individual. He does not see the emperor's new clothes, but he recognizes bull sheisse when he sees it.

Richard Feynman said, "String Theory doesn't make predictions. It makes excuses."

When it comes to maths and physics, if Penrose says it, I believe it.

I don't like the Dark Matter Theory. It smacks of the old Ether theory. Why say there is mass we don't know about? Why not say there are Forces we don't know about? Call it, "Dark Force." Obviously our theory of gravity seems to be missing something. Not sure I like MOND either. Seems to me they should be modifying General Relativity, not Newton.

Kaku is not a leading string theorist. The leader of the string theory community is Ed Witten, at the Institute of Advanced Study.
I propose that string theory began with a theoretical paper, published in 1968 by Gabriele Veneziano.

“Dark Matter” is the modern-day equivalent to “luminous ether.”

Can’t believe the “eye-eye A” and “eye-eye B”!

I’m only in Attorney, and when I see math coming down the pike, I usually turn tail and run the other direction. All that being said, because I’m an attorney, I understand the primary importance of observable demonstrable evidence. In law we have all kinds of rules about what can, and cannot be admitted into court, and what can, and cannot be considered by the judge or jury. Based on what little I know about real science, it appears that the standard, for legitimate evidence is whether the supposed evidence can be observed, and whether it can be tested. It sounds to me like this string theory is nothing more than mathematical speculation. Sounds like it’s nothing more than a theory of what may be and not a theory that explains what scientists and investigators have actually observed.

It’s not that he rejects string theory. It’s more that he objects to it even being called a theory because theories are models for making predictions on limited domains of observation. If there is currently no observation possible to support or thwart it, then it’s not even a theory. Just stop talking about it like it is one. Theories are not right or wrong. They are not proven true or false. They are demonstrated to be strong or weak in comparison with other theories. He’s not saying string theory is weak, he’s saying it’s not even a theory, which it isn’t.

Michio Kaku is not the father of string theory...

Why invent dark matter when invisible matter comes so readily to hand in the form of rarified hydrogen?

Michio and Roger are light years apart when it comes to physics, Michio is so far behind Roger they are not even comparable. You only have to look a Rogers face when Michio spouts his ill thought out diatribe to see what I mean.

When Wiiliam Wordsworth wrote “When oft upon my couch I lie, in vacant or in pensive mood, they flash upon that inner eye, which is the bliss of solitude”.
He was talking about daffodils, but had he been a physicist, or one the many scientific experts that are so pervasive on the internet, he could have been talking about many of the theories and ideas we are bamboozled with each day?
Like flies round a candle, they cannot wait to get their wings singed, as they clammer to tell us about the latest truth, and the reality that we plain-folk just don’t understand, to prove that their years of study was not a waste of time….
A bit like ‘I took my harp to the party, but nobody asked me to play’…….
The point being : we should never omit to add to the equation that there are charlatans in every walk of life, who are just as prone to dishonesty and deception, as in the babbling classes, to fool us?
