The Nobel committee has just announced that Eric's hair has been nominated for the 2021 award.

An honest take on the Nobel. To put Penrose in with Feynman Einstein and Dirac in this way is honour indeed. Penrose is a visionary, time, AI, cosmology and black holes all get the treatment from a different angle from him.
He also authored the ultimate mathematics/physics book for the enthusiastic layman, 'The road to Reality.' It's not easy you have to work hard. Penrose does not do easy. I hope his cyclic universe has legs, see if Hawking points can be verified in some way.

As a nuclear physicist who has read and marveled at C.S. Wu's papers I agree wholeheartedly that she was deserving of a Noble Prize. I find myself agreeing with everything Weinstein has said, including specifically the reference to Bach. I would have added Rosalind Franklin to his list of omissions, though (unless he was restricting the list to prizes in physics).

I have to say to omit George Sudarshan for the kind of work hes done is very sad, he could've brought a lot of scientific interest to India which has traditionally been skeptical of science, changed the course of historv here in India, wouldve been a true champion.

I am not too familiar with Penroses formulation of Black Holes but his theory of consciousness seems like non sense. Neuroscience version of "vitalism" in biology. Anyone read Emperor's new Mind?

Giving nobel prize to roger Penrose was more propaganda than scientific contribution since he is not a physicists at the end of the day.
