Massad Ayoob has been handgun editor of GUNS magazine and law enforcement columnist for AMERICAN HANDGUNNER since the 1970s, and has published thousands of articles in gun magazines, martial arts publications, and law enforcement journals. He is the author of some twenty books on firearms, self-defense, and related topics, including “In the Gravest Extreme” and “Deadly Force,” widely considered to be authoritative texts on the topic of the use of lethal force.

The winner of the Outstanding American Handgunner of the Year Award in 1998, Mas has won several state and regional handgun shooting championships. Ayoob was the first person to earn the title of Five Gun Master in the International Defensive Pistol Association. He is the current President of the Second Amendment Foundation. Ayoob founded the Lethal Force Institute in 1981 and served as its director until 2009, and now trains through Massad Ayoob Group. He has
appeared on CLE-TV delivering continuing legal education for attorneys, through the American Law Institute and American Bar Association, and has been retained to train attorneys to handle deadly force cases through the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. Ayoob served for two
years as co-vice chair of the Forensic Evidence Committee of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also appeared in each episode of Personal Defense TV (Sportsman’s Channel).

My father spoke so very highly of you sir. His name was Paul McCarthy of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. He was a range instructor for many years and I am pretty sure he knew you personally. He was one heck of a shot with a pistol. At any rate, I am just remembering times when I was about 10 years old, watching my father run with every officer on the department for qualifying on the range. Every summer I watched. I miss him everyday!! Anyhow. I happened upon one of your videos and after watching this it made me think of my father!!!

I want to hear testimonials of people who have it and had to use it. We NEVER HEAR FROM THEM. These agencies rarely pay and find ways not to pay in my opinion.

I have been carrying for 35 years. And I always thought it was like having insurance or wearing a seat belt. You can't buckle up after the fact, or call your insurance agent and say I was insured right. Being a sane person says I may never use it or it could save my wife, myself, or a group of strangers. Period.

My issue isn’t having insurance… The problem is I’ve heard stories of people not being covered because they got charged with some minor crime in addition(like their car wasn’t registered) abd their insurance plan is useless!!!!
Otherwise even if they cover it they control the process!!! So if they want you to plea you need to plea!!! The whole thing is a good idea but until I get better information I feel USCCA is a potential scam. The way they advertise is rather predatory!!!

Things you should have before you CC:
Training. Real training. In both unarmed and armed fighting from a legit BJJ program, exposure to MMA, Shivworks and other reputable programs.
Insurance, like the man says lawyers are expensive.
A real reason to carry. Not a made up threat, not fear- mongering from the news, but reasonable and defensible concerns for your own physical safety.
An IFAK and basic trauma care (Stop The Bleed, etc) training.

Overall, guns are tools that increase the overall deadliness of encounters. Make sure that all steps have been taken to ensure that escalation is both well-founded and properly directed.

New York State stacks the game by saying we can’t get this insurance here. No one will offers it in New York. But there is always talk in Albany about making it mandatory to have it! The corruption and tyranny here is terrible!

I work remote but have to go into the office quarterly. The office is in NE Portland.
For some people it’s a matter of if they’ll need to defend themselves. For others, it can be a question of WHEN they’ll need to defend themselves
