The NRA needs people like Massad Ayoob in leadership roles and not the suits that currently hi-jack the purpose of this organization for personal enrichment interests.

Massad, my father purchased a small 22 caliber rifle for me and my older brother when I was 3 to 4 years old. We lived on a farm in Texas, and I was so small that I can still vividly recall my father leaning over me, helping me to hold that tiny little rifle... showing me how to hold it, how to aim it and fire the gun. He was also very strict about safety. As I grew up, my grandfather and uncles took me hunting every weekend. My grandfather taught me how to hold a gun with my finger off the trigger and the gun on safety while walking thru the countryside hunting for small game. He taught me how to walk behind the person in front of me so that my gun wasn't aimed at the backend of the person in front of me, to avoid accidently shooting my best friend(s). We later moved to Burbank, CA and there was an indoor rifle range in the local park. I used to walk down the busiest street in Burbank with my 22 rifle to the shooting range where I went thru gun safety courses and enjoyed target shooting. There is much more to this story. I have been shot twice by 'friends' I took hunting in the area just outside of Palmdale, CA. These 'friends' were raised in the city and had never shot guns in their lives. As a teenager, I didn't realize how dangerous they were with a gun in their hands, as I was very well trained in safety with guns and assumed that they had 'common sense'. One of the guys was walking behind me with his 22 rifle, finger on the trigger, fully loaded and ready to go. He tripped and the gun fired... the round hit a rock and ricocheted into the right cheek of my buttocks. I went to the doctor to have the bullet taken out. The 2nd time I was shot was in the same area, similar circumstance. Fast forward, I was in the 101st Airborne Division, FB Bastogne, Vietnam 69'. After a short time in country, I was almost killed by a fellow soldier who did something very foolish. I won't get into the detail here. I spent the next three months in a stateside military hospital and was honorably discharged. I am pro-gun. It is the person with the gun in their hands, not the gun. The guy that shot me first ended up in the Marine Corp in Vietnam. I only hope he learned something from the experience where he shot me accidentally, else he may have killed a few fellow soldiers. Thank you so much for your wisdom. Please continue publishing these 'lessons'. They are very valuable, especially in the 'fear-based' society we live in... Bye for now. PS - When I was in Vietnam, I sent my grandfather a letter and told him that if I survived Vietnam, it would NOT be what the army taught me, but would be mostly the result of how he taught me to hunt for game, especially being able to use what he referred to as 'soft-eyes' to see movement. Hooah!

It is not a matter of need - please tell me what part of "shall not infringe" you don't understand. I should not have to have government permission for a right

I've easily watched more than a hundred videos by Massad Ayoob, interviews with him, and even old VHS videos of his classes - first time I ever saw him become visibly upset - righteous anger is how I would describe it. He's an American treasure.

I don't need an AR, but when TYRANTS have fully automatic M-16's, APC's, full body armor, I don't think it's too much to ask.

I like the AR type models due to the ease of modification. You can design it for close quarter fighting or defense as well as field use.
A variety of ammo magazines, night equipment, sharp shooting scopes, easy disassembly for cleaning, and a multitude of various grips and stocks to fit the individual.
It's an all around fantastic frame unmatched in versatility.

HSCEMS-12-R-00011
The United States Department of Homeland Security has stated a rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO (compatible with .223) with a magazine capacity of 30 rounds is “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters…”

When a government agent sticks his AR-15 in your back and says get into that boxcar, you'll wish you had an AR-15 to point back and say NO. Your AR-15 is your ability to say NO.
