Europe's Worst-Case Scenario. Why Taiwan's security matters for the West.

If China invades Taiwan and Russia attacks NATO simultaneously, would this be the European Union's darkest hour? Would the United States be militarily strong enough to help defend Western Europe if it is fighting China in the Pacific? Why would Russia invade a NATO country if the US was busy dealing with China? Would China see a Russian war as advantageous in this situation? Is the US Navy large enough to fight a war on two fronts? Is America matched with China and Russia evenly? Could Europe defend itself against Russia?

How fortunate then, that Russia has already depleted itself economically and militarily by escalating the war in Ukraine. How fortunate for Europe that at least dependancy on Russian gas has been reduced. Now Europe must reform and build up it's own defense force, after being dependant on the US for over eight decades.

Taiwan is not a country, Taiwan is an island, a region that belongs to China, If we condemn Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, countries that support Taiwan's independence must also be condemned if China does not agree to the island's independence.

1) it costs a lot of $$$ to keep it running and up-to-date
2) $$$ that they don't really have
3) it holds an era defining edge in low-observable technology
4) an edge they don't expect to hold onto for long
5) all western nations are facing severe aging populations, resulting in:
6) increased welfare spending
7) unfunded liabilities, eg. pensions
8) massive recruitment problems for their militaries
9) balance of power tilting decisively to the east and global south
10) over-stimulus after the '08 GFC and '20 pandemic
11) persistent inflation ie. currency devaluation
