Solution to Only Windows Booting after SteamOS 3.4 Update

If anyone is having an issue where Windows is Booting after SteamOS 3.4 Update you need to the following.

- You must Boot into the SteamOS Recovery Image USB and perform the 4 lines of the script in my original tutorial again.

(This is because Valve changed the EFI behavior of the firmware in 3.4)

It will not work without konsole in recovery usb mode.

Yes! I had a problem where after installing the latest version of SteamOS (after not having installed an update in a few months and while still running a version of refind from the technique that was around in May/June), that the system could no longer find my boot device. I could get into SteamOS via the boot manager via the steamcl.efi file @4:15. Then I got to your step on Desktop mode @5:10 and realized I didn't have that version of rEFInd at all so I pulled up your guide from 2 months ago for installing rEFInd from your github. Then boom, everything back to normal. I have to remember how to re-add my custom wallpaper, but I'm glad it was painless to resolve.

Thank you for the amazing guides. Huge lifesaver. And yes, your calming voice and style are fantastic for what is surely an anxious and fidgety audience. <3

Thank you @DeckWizard I was able to fix the dual boot on SteamOS 3.4.5 and windows 10 by following two of your videos (had to rebuild both sides with USB Recovery). It took 4 hours but it was worth it! Definitely subbing.

Thank you so much! I've had to do this twice after the recent steam OS updates and these commands have worked both times. Hopefully once valve natively supports dual booting we won't have to deal with this problem everytime there's an update.

After another Steam Deck OS update, 3.4.4 this tutorial saved my Windows Dual Boot again. Hopefully one day we won't need to do this with every Steam Deck OS update at some point. I thought Easy UEFI would fix this, by making rEFInd as bootable but disabling Windows, however it doesn't work unless I'm doing something wrong.

This actually happened to me, but interestingly enough, It couldn't see the Windows Boot. Here's the scenario (in case people are interested and encounter same problem)
- I have Win10 as WindowsToGo on an SD (I will be switching soon to internal partitioned drive)
- I wanted to lay the deck down for a bit so I pressed the power button once (Windows - Sleep)
- Pressing it back after a while loaded me in SteamOS.
- I said "Ok, Windows must have crashed, probably doesn't like sleep mode or the fact that it's on an SD which is probably weird when sleeping"
- Shut down SteamOS, Volume Down+Power, No Windows option
- Ejected and then plugged my SD back in, nothing. Afraid I fried the SD, although SteamOS desktop mode could mount and see it fine
- Tried again and nothing, until I did exactly like you did in this video, although for Windows
- Selected the last option (you can check on the right that it's not the NVME drive), looked in the EFI folder, found 1 or 2 folders inside for Windows, one of them had the Windows64bit.efi (or something like that).
- Now after it loaded once it continues to appear as normal when Volume Down + Power.
