Drone footage captured on the morning of October 10 shows the extensive damage inflicted by Hurricane Milton on the city of Venice, Florida. The hurricane, which struck Florida's west coast as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 120 mph (205 kph), spawned deadly tornadoes, destroyed homes, and left over 3 million customers without power. Although it was a dangerous storm, it was less severe than the Category 5 hurricane that had initially threatened the state. In this video, witness the aftermath and destruction as the community begins to assess the damage and recover.

Houses built more than 40 years ago would have all kinds of roof damage. It is s testament to building codes that so many houses had zero roof damage.

A picture paints a thousand words ...😢 thanks for that.

The coastal surge was surprisingly lighter than predicted. The storms shape seemed to distort dramatically just before landfall and all the energy moved up the east coast with those tornados. Weird storm.

This is just a TINY part of Venice. What about the trailer parks where thousands of elderly people live? What about the rest of mainland Venice and not the island?

while there is a lot of damage, out of all the daylight videos I've seen it looks much better then they expected... hope that is true.

Yes this is incredibly sad but dont forget NC and TN. Compared to what they are dealing with this doesnt really compare. When you choose to live in FL you know this is always a possibility. There is always risk involved living in tropical climates. You have time to prepare. The people in NC and TN had no time and ability to prepare for such a disaster. The mountains funneled all that water down and they were helpless

Venice look like it got hit pretty bad but no water surging on the roads it was last night but all gone now. Not as bad or catastrophic as the weather people were indicating

I really wish people understood where tornados and hurricanes come from because a lot of people don’t understand how they actually work.

They need to start building different kind of houses in FL. Globe shaped concrete bunkers is probably the way to go
