This is just a quick video showing my 3ds max to Substance Painter workflow that I have developed. This method gets the most accurate results for using ID Maps.

I do not have to option to select bake to texture.

hold ctrl when you dragging material on mesh, much easier. 😉

My god. finally! Thank you. So you figured this out because all of the most obvious processes (including the Adobe official tutorial) dont work right?

I combined all my assets together and for some reason, it doesn't keep them on one layer despite being done exactly as instructed it's unbelievably frustrating because I did a test import but added a few more materials. Not sure why it keeps splitting the ID's into different material layers.

Hi, I am just trying this method, but after I click on bake, the final picture is full black and it doesnt have colors with model. Do you know, where can be problem? Thank you!
